So that should be #28550-47040 Right?

Are you installing a 2H with a Superglow system or the older manual glow style? I saw in another topic that your 2H is the 88-90 type from a 60 series. That's likely a Superglow, possibly 24v. Of course you can wire up any glow system you want but without that info I don't know how to answer your question.

Guys I'm new to diesel tech. The 2H is 12v and from a 60 88'-90'. Any info you can share with me would received gratefully.

Can you snap a photo of the glow plug bus bar and post it? Are you hoping to get factory-like glow functionality or do you just want it to work and start your engine reliably?

Your 2H likely has some of the components to support the the Toyota Superglow system. (A photo would confirm this.) There are other relays, sensors and electrical components required to completely implement this system. It works well and is the most "automated" of the 40 and 60 series glow systems.

The glow plug circuit for a 78 model year would have been the manual 'glow controller' style. (Your ignition key would rotate backwards to enable the glow curcuit.) A glow controller is essentially a resistor coil in the dash that heats and glows along with the glow plugs. (very simplistic description) If you're trying to appear to be factory-correct you would want to go this direction with your glow circuit.

The third option and usually easiest/most cost effective to implement is a non-stock manual glow circuit typically referred to as a Wilson switch here on Mud. Most gas to diesel conversions typically go this way unless they're attempting to maintain factory originality.

Each of these three options have different wiring, relays and glow plug requirements.

I hope this picture will show what you need to see.

Someone with more experience with the 2H will have to comment on that mess of wires attached to the manifold. That looks like a Superglow setup but it doesn't look stock. I've never owned a 2H so please feel free to tell me I'm full of it.

Definitely late model 2h has the right wires you could just hook up a Wilson switch

And change the glow plugs for 8.5V model.

In that case in needs either of the two wiring looms available to him, he needs to let use known which loom he has as that will dictate whether he uses a glow light or glow resistor, the engines shows from the photos what looks like a Super Glow System on the engine, but which wiring loom is he attaching to it?

PS. Actually I don't think its a Super Glow, I don't see the Voltage Resistor strap? and it has only one resistor also, maybe a manual glow, would like to see a photo of the ignition switch but he maybe using the original FJ 45 petrol ignition anyway.

PSS. Its a 12v system as you can see 12v on the edic motor.

PSSS. Finally if you take a photo of the front of the engine of the timing cover where it covers the front of the IP, if it has a bung in the middle it is a late model, if not its an early model 2H. The later models that came out of 60 series around 1985 which were Super Glow and then later in the 75 series move to a delayed glow system and no resistor in the inlet manifold which this 2H has one and only one?

So it went 2H manual glow (one resistor), 2H Super Glow which were in the very late model hj47 & 60 series (2 resistors)) and 2H Delayed Glow 75 series ( no resistor) - these would be Country dependant and whether 12v or 24v systems.

Thanks for all of the input guys. This is a transplant into my 78' 45. The donor was suppose to be an 88'-90' HJ60 from Japan. Hopefully the pictures will help with your questions. I will be using a manual system for my glow plugs.

Thanks,

So you go for the "manual glow" also known as "Wilson Switch".
You have two options; with or without the glow controller. See pic below.
glow systems set ups.JPG

Glow controller 28550-47040 (closed version)
Glow controller 28550-47021 (open version)
If you can find them..... they are about $70 US
