Great essay, Hayes! Thanks.

Hayes,
This might be a little geeky, but I took your trip map and did an image overlay in Google Earth. Then I stretched the map to match the Google Earth image. You can make it opaque or clear. By putting place markers in various locations you can do a fly over of your whole trip. It's pretty cool. I don't know how to share it or I would. I have done the Elephant Hill loop and and some other stuff in that area, but not the trip you have outlined. Looks like a great route.

Wow, I feel like you took me along!

Thanks for the mini virtual vacation.

Thanks for sharing!

Thank you for sharing. That is the kind of thing I hope to do.

Supremely geeky.
You have no idea how many hours I spent on Google Earth flying down my proposed route. I've got a .kmz file with at least 30 placemarkers--each one carefully positioned for the perfect viewing angle and camera placement. Maybe I should include a link to the file as an addition to the writeup and photos...

We need a geek smiley! :)

I know it has been a while, but I had to post my compliments. I've read this thread several times and tonight I showed my wife the pictures and she was amazed. Being a city girl, she had no idea that we could 'drive' to these places. I'm thinking I might be able to get her outside for a couple of nights if I can show her some views like the ones here. Maybe a trip to Canyonlands in '08?
Thanks again for the report.
-Jim
