Jonathan,

Fairey O/D's haven't been manufactured for Landcruisers for probably 20 years. If you want an O/D forget about a Fairey - parts are unobtanium. Instead focus on a Toyota H-55 5-speed tranny.

thanks

I agree, as I have talked with the Fairey dudes (out of La. if I remember right) and they said that these models are not in production and hard to come by these days (actually asked me if I wanted to sell mine). They can rebuild them as long as you don't need any gears for them. With that, they said to change the fluid often and just drive it. I myself only use it on the fwy as my "5th" gear since I don't want to have issues with it and want to extend its life as long as possible. With a chevy 400 under the hood, I can use it any way I want, but it really only sees use on the freeway. But it is pretty cool, and yes there is a slight whine from it. A question to others, does the fairey shifter stick feel warm when you drive on the freeway? Mine will get pretty warm and I have often wondered if this was normal?
