well, when we got our last dog, i was 7 years old....so now i actually am a part of the training process. He is done pissing and duecein in the house...but he can't keep his mouth off of anything!

(purebred yellow lab from a friend of a friend of a friend=$50)
Our last dog Joey was a yellow lab/golden mix....runt of the litter grew to 120lbs!

Never had a problem with destructive chewing with my Lab, raised her from a pup, she was kept with plenty of doggy chewys (Nylabones, etc), walked 2x a day, trained off leash, and NEVER allowed to get into much mischief: gated area while we were out and always under foot when we were home, just like a child. Always has run of the enitre house, NEVER get on furniture (except my bed when it's MADE) and life is peacefully crazy. Dogs rule.

did for one of mine... got the meanest, hottest awfulest stuff I could find and applied with a mister where he had made some toofmarks... his first reaction was like WTF... I retreated a couple of times and then he stopped doing it... also provided him with a Kong with treats in it for appropriate teething... and praised him when he hit the Kong. Took less than 2 days for him to figger out what he was allowed to chew on and what he was not... Did catch him one time trying to take a little lick to see if there was hot sauce on it... tobasco would be MILD compared to the stuff I used.

Of course, he started wanting hot sauce on his dog food.... Nawt.
