I'm doing a valve cover gasket replacement on my 2003 LC and found this stuck to the inside of the driver's side valve cover although I don't think that it started there. I cannot see where it would go. It looks like some sort of bushing or gasket. It's soft and pliable and does not appear that it has been exposed to any heat. Does it look familiar? Maybe it's not even something Toyota although the tools I'm using don't have anything like it.

That appears to be a coil to valve cover seal

I could be wrong.

Bingo!! I just looked at my coils and one of them is missing a gasket.
