Hi,
I almost finished restoration of my FJ62.
During about two years, I did so many work for my truck, brake swap, trany swap, t-case overhaul, differential rebuilding,
Finally, I cut off rust and weld new sheet metal and repaint.
My FJ62's factory color was Blue(8B2) but I changed to Volcanic Red.
Before start painting, I considered many kind of colors.
My major requirement was using color which already used at other vehicle in Korea because it makes easy when getting same paint or spray later for fixing damaged painting area on my vehicle.
My truck's factory color blue wasn't sold in Korea that everytime when I need paint, it must be made by painting professional.
First, I considered oceanic silver. it's very cool color.
Ther main reason why I give up Oceanic silver is hardness of distinguish when rainy or foggy weather.
Korea is peninsula that we have a lot of rainny or foggy days and also humidity is very high.
(Average humidity is 50~60% at spring, 80~90% at summer, 50~60% at fall, 40~50 at winter)
I had some dangerous experience with silver color that when I was running highway, if weather was not so good, cars which have silver color was very hard to distinguish. So, I gave up that color to prevent accident by other car.
Second consideration was Hawaiian blue which is some more bright than my truck's previous color.
But I also gave up because of it's very brilliant.
So, I choose Volcanic red and am satisfied.
The very color I prefer most is oceanic silver but safety is most important that I didn't chose.
I love this color Volcanic red very much !
What do you think about my new color ?

Oh, Min Seok

They are step for factory roof rack.
If you search my id in 60 series registery, you can see factory roof rack(It was non-usa FJ62 option) at photo.
I temporary removed roof rack for painting.
I also want to post more picture but because of limited space, I couldn't.
To post these pictures, I must delete some photos at previous post.

Oh, Min Seok

that looks great, i like that color. What size are those rims? 15", 16" or 17" are the bumpers painted? they look grey

Rims are 15x8, and yes, I also painted bumpers but it's same color with factory bumper color.
My FJ62 had vinyl interior and no crome options from factory.
You can see dark gray grill and headlight doors in first picture.
But I changed to crome headlight doors and gold grill because original gray grills were broken.
Also bumper had same dark gray color and I repainted using with almost same dark gray paint.

Is there any member who know the site where offers free space for upload photos ?

Oh, Min Seok

nice truck! I have never seen the rear style ambulance doors on a FJ60/62 before.

How much is gas in Korea per liter/gallon? In relation to US Dollars...

If I told you price of gas in Korea, You may be frighteded :)
It's about $1.5 ~ 1.6 per 1L !! (3.78L = 1 US gallon)
Because of high price of gasoline, I'd installed LPG system into my FJ62 that I have dual fuel system.
The price of LPG is half of gasoline in Korea.

Toyota named ambulance door as SOB(swing-out backdoor) and US style door is LUB(Lift-Up backdoor)
I like SOb better than LUB but sometimes I want LUB when I sleep in cargo area.
I'm 6"4 that only with folding rear seat can't offer me enough length to sleep :D

I painted whole inside as well :)
inside working pics,,,,

Great color. Great job! Are those steps to factory roof rack OEM also, or did you get those somewhere else and use them for this application? Post pics when you get the rack back on, or the inside back together. Keep up the great work. Don't worry. We are right behind you on the gas prices.

Looks like you had fun doing that Shaats.

The barn doors are quite common here in Australia, too. They're usually found on the base/commercial variants here. It's interesting to see that your cruiser has the non-sliding side windows and no quarter vents in the front side windows like the US models. I can't really see from the photos if you have the full-floater diff. Also, the 1986 onwards cruisers usually have the split rear bumper (have the separate step section in the middle).

Looks good. Very clean and straight.

BTW: biggest advantage with the barn doors is when you are loading heavier items into the cargo area as they can be lifted straight into the back of the truck. With the tailgate option you need to move the item past the tailgate so that it can be closed. It would be good if you could attach a spare wheel to one of the doors, too, as having to swing away the spare before I can open my tailgate is a bit of a pain.

Anyone know the part number to those steps? Oh! and I still think Land Cruisers look good without lifts and big tires! :)

Left hand side:
Top step (61058) + ornament (61686) + retainer (61644A).
Bottom step (61054) + ornament (61684) + retainer (61642A).

Right hand side:
Top step (61057) + ornament (61685) + retainer (61643A).
Bottom step (61053) + ornament (61683A) + retainer (61641A).

All bolts are 90119 08277 (4 each side).

Hey Rodd, I have been looking around at other 60's lately and some FJ62/HJ61,s have non sliding windows. I had never noticed it before.

Yes, those steps are also factory option.

61683-90A00 : Ornament No.1
61641-90A00 : retainer No.1
61057-90A00 : Step No.2
61685-90A00 : Ornament No.2
61643-90A00 : Retainer No.2

I also planed to lift my cruiser before but gave up now because of damm Korean laws about vehicle. Wide tire and car lift are illigal in Korea

RoddQLD/
Because my FJ62 don't have carb. cooling fan, there's no vents in fender and she has semi-float axle.
Yes, I know spilit bumper but mine don't have. I envy that ;p
All cruisers in the world are Japanese import. isn't it ? :)
My father was PO and because of historical reason, Japanese cars didn't imported to Korea officially until 2000 but there's few imported Japanese vehicle by private such like my FJ62.

Where did you order you LPG system from, or how did you get it? I have been reserching this option but I just found out that the EPA or some other US fed agency made it illegal in 2002 to convert or alter your fuel system. From what I have read that when ford and GM were trying to make this an option on factory cars and trucks but for some reason they ran into a problem. When they switched from LPG to gas it was worse than before. But If I can find one and do it myself, I will!

Batman: LPG powered vehicles are fairly common here in Oz. There were some teething problems in the early days. Most vehicles used to be started on petrol and then immediately switched to Gas (LPG), but nowadays we can actually buy some cars directly from the manufacturer that are made to run only on LPG. The main problem is that if you run your vehicle on petrol and LPG then you need the space for LPG tank/s and petrol tank.

There are very few problems (if any) with running an LPG powered vehicle here. Sometimes, in remote areas, someone might find it harder to get LGP, but otherwise it is cleaner and cheaper than petrol. I am quite puzzled as to why the EPA would ban something that puts out less pollution and is quite safe!!!

Many petrol cruisers here are converted to run on LPG as well, and don't suffer from any problems that I have ever heard about.

BTW: we refer to gas as LPG; ULP, etc as petrol. (Just in case there is any confusion).

Gas here is around $0.49c per litre (and in many cases less).
Petrol (ULP) is around $1.18 per litre (it's changing nearly every day).
On LPG you would use more litres than for the same distance with petrol, but it is still more economical to drive using LPG.

Most taxis here run on LPG!!!
One early teething problem was quite funny. The Holden Commodore (biggest selling family car) had a problem if the engine backfire while on LPG as it would physiaclly blow out the left headlight!
Any cars that didn't have hardened valve seats would/could suffer from early wear.
