So, I've replaced all the interior overhead lights with really bright white LEDs. Big deal. Big problem actually...night vision. Sure it's great to have a ton of light when you want to see something, but sometimes, you just need a little bit of light to know where stuff is while you're climbing around in your rig trying to get to sleep.
That's where I had an idea...mount some LEDs in the overhead console like there is in my 911, except bright enough you could actually see instead of it just be mood lighting. I added a small rocker next to the ashtray on constant 12v so I can flip them on anytime, just like the map lights.
Result? Look below.
In addition to ADDING lots of light, I've gotten sick of my instrument cluster being lit up like a christmas tree while trying to haul across colorado in the night. So I got around to pulling the cluster and removed the D light and highbeam light. I also removed the light that only comes on the Lexus version I guess. It's a light to tell you your low beams are on! HORRAY EXTRA CRAP ON THE "LUXURY MODEL" I DONT NEED. I also covered the AHC diagram on the cluster as I've moved on to smoother pastures.
The second picture is with my headlights/highbeams on, in drive with the dimmer turned all the way down, nice and dark
The third picture shows the AHC display covered
