Hi I am new at forums and this one. I have been looking around for a while for upgrade parts for my HZJ78L troopy. Snorkel-power apparently used to :frown: make a 5th gear set that reduced RPM by 20% This is what I am looking for either left-over sock or something close. I am aware that Mark's 4wd makes a good Low reduction gear set that includes a 8% overdrive set but I am looking for a little more difference. Thanks for any help I can get. :)

The taller 5th gear will only work for the h151 not the r151 in your truck.

Marks gears cost about 2k and should give you a little bit but not that much. Stock I think is 2.26 gears in your transfer. Run 255/85/16s for a rubber overdrive

Thanks for your input. I am not sure how much custom work Mark's does but I have enquired if they will make a custom gear-set that will allow a greater reduction than their current 8%, judging by questions I have seen on the internet there should be a market for them if they do. In the meantime I will have to wait until my rubber wears out then plan to move up to 33"

Just thinking, is it possible to exchange my R151 for an H151 or does that require huge modding?

Very possible job!;)
We had huge amount of R151 swapped to H151 after much failure of the box. Not much mod required.:D Larger clutch disc is needed.
Thanks so much... that is a keeper for me. The 5th gear is not a big deal here in Africa most of the time (though we do have the odd paved road:rolleyes:) but should I manage to import it to Canada I will definitely look for this solution if I have not found another since then. Thanks

Re-order of gearset may be possible.

I have contacted Safari and it may be possible to reorder the gear sets if we get enough interest. Here is the link to my post on it.
