HZJ75 - which brake pads do really fit?!

Ok... news on the brake pads...

I had time to test fit them all on my 1993 HZJ75 .

The Ferrodo DB1149WD were already installed for 30'000km without any problems. They will last about 35'000km
with lots of highway driving. Pretty nice improvement over stock brake pads, but dust a lot, although
I didn't care at all about that! To be honest, the more dust the better for a travel car, so it doesn't look
too nice! ;)

Now, the EBC DP7807 (same as DP807 or DP6807) do fit PERFECT and won't need any modification at all! I will test them
as next brake pads.

The EBC 7992 (same as DP992 or DP6992) though needed some grinding. The top pad on the picture, that is the REAR (towards engine)
also has a curved bottom and won't fit at all. It will hit the caliper braket. I did remove both
edges so that it looks like the original pad. See picture.

A side note: the low brake pad alarm metal piece WON'T work on the REAR part on my Ferodo but also
on the DP7807! It is BEHID the brake area of the rotor and will touch air as soon as it's too low! So
it's useless and I did't have any problems by cutting it off on the DP7992!
The outter brake pad alarm system WILL work on all. So as long as the pads are worn equal the alarm will work.

The Hawk HB311 F.591 I somehow put the wrong in the picture. It's equal to the DP7807 and WON'T need any modification
and will work just fine!

The only thing I noticed is that the DP7992 but also the Hawk are maybe 1-2mm offset as shown on the last post from me.
They are a little bit closer to the hub and will eventually make a little humb at the outer diameter of the rotor while
the rotor wears down. Since I see that on MANY cars I don't think this is of any problem and could also be a tolerance
issue. So I would say all 4 different caliper pads will work just fine except the 7992 from EBC needs some grinding.

Hope for the next time you guys know better what to order for a HZJ75.

I will post also the brake experience with those EBC. I am looking forward to test how well they brake compared to the Ferodo!

Update on brake pads: Ok, after about 45'000km with mixed driving (lots of highway but also lots of Mexico braking here due to speed bumps EVERYWHERE) my Ferrodo brake pads needed to be changed. Again, the Ferrodo (seems to be a semi-metallic type) did brake about 20-30% better than the stock types. I installed now a set of those EBC green pads on my Toyota. Did the break in for the first few 100km and now did already some full stops and the difference is AMAZING with my slotted discs!!!! Really amazing! I NEVER saw this car braking this good! I got 3.8tones and really had a feeling that I could stop the car. I surely couldn't lock the tires yet, but I am not far from it! With less weight that wouldn't be any problem, I am sure! So I would say the improvement to the stock types is 60-100%, it's really MUCH better! I can't say yet how long they will hold but I will post it when they are gone... dust I also don't know but I also don't care at all. That's a 4x4 car I use, not a trailer queen!
