Hello,
About a year ago I got my HZJ 74. Bought locally in Poland but originally from the Netherlands. Mechanically the car was in a good shape but suffered when it came to the body work and rust, especially on the rear wheel wells which were rusted all the way through and the rear bumper which was disintegrating.
So some fixing was in order. I took it apart, the body shop replaced most of the rear panels with ones from a j71, As j74 panels are extinct.
With the rust removed it was time to strip it more and to paint. Which was fun.
And after painting.
I also decided to purchase new fender flares and replace most of the mounts due to rust. The original rivets are super expensive but I couldn’t find ones locally in a good size. The roof was also repainted as the previous owner decided to paint it a cream color with a paint brush, he also used wall paint so bits came off with light pressure washer pressure. Finally reassembly and some new rims as the alloys were also corroded.
And that was mostly it. Still some small stuff like I think clutch and flywheel, also had the left locking hub break recently. But it’s mostly done. Picture from local youngtimer meetup.
