HVAC Fan removal

I have either a leaf of some debris sucked down through my cabin air filter into the HVAC blower motor and was eyeing up how to remove the fan for a good clean out. I've removed the kick panel under the glove box and can see some of the fan housing but there are a few electronics modules in the way it seems. One of them is the sonar module and another is a large silver box that's unlabeled. Does anyone have any guides handy for the 200 series specifically? I don't want to remove more than I need to and don't want to just start taking everything apart to figure it out.

Looks easy enough, just remove air conditioning unit then it apparently pops right out. Just one screw.

I believe there are some prerequisite steps not included there…. To access it like that would require removing the glove box in its entirety. If thats the case then so be it, I’ll just have to remove the glove box. Thought there was a way to drop it out the bottom behind the glove box. Thanks for the diagram!

@cr8r , check this thread. It’s been awhile since I wen through this, but if I remember correctly you remove the module on the bottom of the fan housing, then the screws holding the fan motor in place. With a little finesse and wiggling it will come out, with out having to remove the glovebox.

This is exactly what I needed to know! The radar unit is the big silver thing I’ve run into and the included pic here helps me ID the 3 screws that need to come out to get to where I need to go. Seems to be pretty straight forward once past the sonar and radar boxes.

I just finished this project yesterday and similarly I had one crusty old leaf stuck in the top edge of the fan. I ended up taking the glove box out and fishing around with a pair of tweezers to get it out. Sucks to take it all apart, but it was a good learning experience and now its silent and I hopefully won't have to think about it again for quite a while.
