I know this is kind of short notice, but Will and I were talking and realized it has been a while since either of us has been on the trail, so we were thinking about making a Hunter Lake run on Sunday.

Meet time: 0930 at the Caughlin Scolari's this will allow everyone to "air down" buy their last minute groceries, etc.

Leave time: 1000 am

We are planning on making the full loop, so in at Caughlin Ranch out at Verdi. Going up for a look at the trees and just general scenic run.

Typical run rules as far as radio, safety, etc...

See you there.

Jack

That sounds like a fun trip right now, its been 2 years since Ive been up there. Wish I could get the time off work!

I drove past you two days ago right in front of the high school. I was in the 80 and had my arm flailing out the window. :grinpimp:

It's been at more than a year since I have been up there. Too bad you will miss it.

I know, I was in a total daze and I didn't see you until you were by. I tried to call you, but it went to your voicemail. Sorry about that. :D

I'm in. O.K. to bring the kids & Dog?

You bet, Will will probably have both as well.

Jack

Bringing at least the kid. Dog........Maybe. We'll see if she behaves herself deserving of an outing...

I figured you were on the phone or something. Didn't see a missed call, but that happens all the time with verizon for some odd reason.

Take some pictures, i'm sure it will be beautiful up there this time of year!

(p.s., the 80 is getting a OME medium lift soon!)

No can do on this end. But have fun up there!

Does anyone that is going besides me have a Ham radio? If not, I can throw the CB in the rig. Let me know.

Jack

Will and I discussed it this morning and decided that with the weather being what it is (and it will only be worse up there), it will be a good idea to wait on heading into the mountains.

So again, for anyone planning on going, we are going to postpone this trip until the weather is a bit more cooperative.

Thanks for the interest everyone.

See you next time.

Its pretty GNARLY out there.
Had to go out and save the patio furniture!
Gotta LOVE Nevada weather!

I think we made the right choice. I don't mind a snow run, but they are calling for 130+ winds on the ridges today... I'd hate to see the whale get blown off the side of the mountain with me and the kid in it...

What: You don't like a little rain, mud and high wind? :flipoff2:

No kidding.

I can handle two of those three but the wind is just too much.:flipoff2:

Did you end up going to Sac this morning?

We left at 1:00PM and just got back about 1/2 hour ago. Crazy amount of rain all the way until we got to Sacto...then same dealio on the return!

I have no doubt, it rained from about 10:00 am until about 9:00 pm here. Definitely a record rainfall for October. Sucked for doing anything though. Was the wind as bad in Sac?

Jack

I can't remember ever seeing the kind of sustained rains we have had in the past few weeks. At least not in N Nevada.

The winds were crazy all the way to Sac...but not too bad in Sacto proper.

Well......

We talked about trying it again this week, but I have Trick-or-Treat duty with the kiddo, so I'm restricted to a run that lasts about 2-3 hours tops. Jack said no-way we could get the whole trail done that fast and keep our rigs in one piece, so this weekend is probably a no-go for us.

We were thinking maybe the weekend after? Anybody interested? Weather permitting of course...

Can you guys make it friday the 5th? Thats my only day off (other than my normal tues/wed) and I'm not allowed to take weekends off until after christmas.

Saw some pics of it today on Reno4x4, looks like theres a bit of snow up there, but not much.
