All,
Over lunch, I noticed that there are several winches listed at www.govliquidation.com which are take-offs from Hummers. They are located in AL at Redstone. The problem is the information included on these winches in the descriptions. The title says they are Mile Markers, but the NSN block says they are 24 volt Warn. The included pictures shows a Mile Marker name plate and a mounting bracket with the Mile Marker cage code. The following is the link to the page with all the current auctions in AL.

If they are Mile Marker hydraulic winches, aren't they a solid winch but very slow? If they are Warn, won't they be 24 volt under rated at 6000lbs? (i.e., their capacity is much higher than the rated 6000lbs?)

I posted this for this keen eyed crew to ID which winch these truly are and educate me. Plus there may be some interest in these winches by others.

Thanks

i know that most of the gov winches are mile marker hydro winches but they are 12k plus winches.

i have heard nothing but great things about them.

Milemarker

I picked one up brand new gov surplus. It was MM 10.5K with the hummer mount too.

Just had to order 12v solenoid coils. I went to mfg rep instead of MM. About half price, built my own controls, wired lanyard, inside controls, added a wireless mm controller to them, had NAPA make my hose ect.

All told spent less than $500 on whole thing. Course I spent that much on a used winch bumper.

Luv mine.
Luv total cost too plus I know I can never burn it up, break it ect.:grinpimp:
