Ok, most won’t get this but I want to go a little tree hugger here. I do live pretty close to Boulder and did buy the YETI there….. otherwise other than watching the freak show on pearl street once in a while for entertainment I try to avoid the town.
I ride alone pretty remote a lot and originally bought the bell for wildlife. I have some up on moose a ton on the moto but the MTB and single track I mostly see black bears a few times a year and hear a lot about mountain lions but have yet to see one outside that I came up on deer deer all the time. So decided to get a timber bar bell. Not sure what it does for wildlife and don’t come up on them much since the purchase especially downhill. But I will say it works wonders on humans! Ever since getting one I rarely stop on the downhills, not for selfishness or trying to beat that strava time but people just hear it and MOVE!!! I love this thing, I never get Karen’s all pissed off because I scared them anymore, if anything people move and thank me! Dogs are everywhere here! They hear me first and get attention. One of the best things I have bought for the bike and if you want to champion your sport or not I suggest you get one. A lot of people hate bikes just because of the scare factor when you come up on them. If we all had one everyone would love us! Ok maybe not but if you get harassed for legally riding trails I strongly suggest getting one. BTW, you can adjust the loudness and totally shut it off and the kids love them so your inspiring kids to ride as well. Nothing like bombing down the rock pile sounding like the ice cream truck!
Happy trails kids!
EDIT*** I give this product 5 stars!

That's a great PSA!

On my "riding tracks round town" bike I have a dome bell with a missing striker-hammer. It rings more softly because the striker's wire frame taps the dome instead of the super-hard depleted uranium hammer. That thing was pretty aggressive.

My buddy installed a bear bell after he had an encounter with a big black bear on Segment 22 of the Colorado Trail. That was about 5 years ago, and he never took it off his bike. I always feel like I'm dashing through the snow when I ride with him 😆 [CSB: I had bonked that day (of course) and missed the bear encounter by about 15 minutes. When I got up to him, he was walking in circles around his bike and still the only thing he could say was, "Oh ****! Oh ****!" Then a through hiker shared her sardines and soup with us as all three of us tried to shelter under her pack cover in a hail storm. We saw her a couple nights later at the Lake City Brewery and bought her so much beer and food that she's probably still hungover and considering taking ozympic.]

Can confirm that many hikers appreciate hearing me coming with the bell I use (not same as above). As to bears, I have not seen any in a long time while riding - may or may not be related, probably the latter.

I LOVE IT! Like I said most won’t get it but but you just might get to a point where you didn’t get it and have a moment where you wish you did! 🙃This bell rocks, and no matter what, ring the bell for the kids and recruit, we need more upcoming bikers!
P.S. don’t sweat the bears, it’s the humans you need to be worried about.

It has changed my riding experience in many ways. Can’t go wrong with this simple and cheap bell and it’s so soothing, sort of, I focus on the rocks, not someone I come up on scared and pissed off I embarrassed them for the good ol” WTF IS that noise behind me!?!” Reaction then comes the Karen attitude.UGH, share the trail all!
