Does anyone know where I could find a hub seal on short notice?

Long story short, I went through two seals trying to install them and a shop i use, went through another two of them, but we only got one installed correctly. He machined the surface for me so a new seal should go in with no problem, but he has been trying to find the right seal for me and after 3 attempts with his suppliers, he has given up.

I'm trying to get my truck back on the road this weekend and want to know if anyplace within 30 miles of me (baltimore, md) would have a seal in stock. I've purchased all my parts before from kurt at cruiseroutfitters, but for the sake of time, I'm hoping I can find something locally and quickly.

any idea what I tell them for size/part#?

To make it easy for yourself - You can just take in one of your old ones. (So long as they can measure the OD, ID and thickness they should be happy.)

Double-lip seals are best but a single-lip will do.

really, so a single lip will work? the shop guy ordered it 3 times and he kept getting a single lip seal from his supplier. Am i sacrificing anything by using single lip seal on the one side?

Well I've fitted single-lip seals before and haven't experienced problems with them - And you say you are in a hurry. ;)

But I do prefer double-lip and these days I'm more fussy and would probably fit only "double-lip".

The double-lip design gives me an added sense of security (that wheel-bearing grease will not make it onto your brakes) and my cruiser was originally fitted with double-lip seals. (But deep-down I'm not sure that the double-lip design is so much better/safer.)

thanks lost marbles, i might swing down to the bearing supply house and see if they can get me a double seal, but I might just put the single lip on for now and order a new one once i get the truck moving again. the whole disc swap/rebuild went so smoothly and i've been hung up on this hub seal for about 2 weeks now, talk about a buzz kill.
