hubcentric or lugcentric, my brain hurts from reading about it.
Why not just use Equal or Counteract?
No need to worry about how the the shop balances your rims.

I have been using Counteract http://counteractbalancing.com/ , which is for semi's and big trucks (got it from work). Onec I got the right amount in the tire I have had no problems with the tires shaking even when snow and mud is packed on the tire/wheel

Now Counteract says to use the passenger fromula called Counter Balance.
From what I have read on their last web sit said that it uses static electricty to keep the beeds in place whe you stop.


My mullet tires (wild country rvt mud lug) only had bad wear on the outside lug. I think that may of been from a loose wheel bearing and not rotating them enough.
The tire has so much outside wear that when I have the tire off the vehicle it leans.
I plan on either having the tire rotated on the rim or replace the tires.
I will try the CounterBalance the next time I get new tires.
 
Haven't had any issues with the street tires, BFG AT/KO's, and with the swampers balancing is wasted since it would have to be done almost every time I use them :D
 
Junk, the CounterAct may work well with the big mudders. Call them and ask them.
 
people arround here use a half pound of steel BB's for larger tires that will not ballance otherwise

I still do not understand how that works but it does, the BB's roll arround when you stop but go right to where they are needed when you accelerate again

If you're having repeat balance issues it may be the swampers are slipping on the rims. You can establish this by putting a line from a permanent marker, swatch of duct tape or other durable mark on the tire at the air valve and checking at the end of the trip. Generally, it's hard braking that will cause the slip - esp with low wheeling pressures.

Anyhow, I've found a cure for this. There's a product called Bead Tack that's routinely used in rural farm tire shops to prevent tractor tires from slipping on the rims. It's basically self vulcanizing rubber and is applied to the rim and tire during mounting. It cures, but can be easily broken loose by normal tire mounting machines if work is later needed. This cured a severe problem for me on another vehicle.

LOL, no it's from the weights coming off :D I've seen them come off so I know. Plus, sometimes you leave a lug here or there, or at least parts of it :D
 
I thought about using Equal in my Swampers because of the same problems Junk is having but my concerns are with air up and down. How is CounterAct for airing up/down? How does the manufacture recommend airing up/down?

beads have no effect on airing up or down they sit at the bottom of the tire arway from the valve when you are stopped
 
You get a new vlave for the valve stem. It has a tiny screen on the valve to keep the beads (its glass beads that Counteract uses) from sandblasting your face when you air down.

The beads are about the size of salt or sugar.
 
No thanks. I've come to the conclusion that Swampers don't need to be balanced. It goes against their karma. :D

ahhh, I was expecting these to be repackaged BB's, the static electricity comment makes more snese now
