Hub Body/ Housing External Seal

Hi All,

Does anyone know the purpose of the external seal on the outer diameter of hub housing/ body PN 43511-60021? It looks like it is meant to seal the spindle bolts but the spindle has a drain. Also, don't confuse the hub housing with the freewheel hub. This hub housing/ body is the part that the brake rotor (or drum in earlier units) bolts to.

Nevermind, it is a dust seal. I guess it isn't too important that my hub body has grooves at the dust seal.
