I just joined LSLC- Austin Chapter- and I thought I'd say hello! I just bought my first LC- a 02/75 FJ40- which has been a dream car of mine since I was in High School in Colorado Springs back in '84! I bought it from an elderly friend that's had it as a ranch vehicle since '92- he bought it from a guy from Louisiana who'd lost his title. My friend never needed to register it because it was strictly for use on the ranch. Now, I'd like to find a way to get some paperwork on it- so I can begin making it street legal. I'm planning to go to the DOT this week, here in Austin, to see about either filing for a new title or some sort of mechanic's lien/abandoned vehicle. Since the thing has been sitting on a ranch without anyone making a claim for it for almost 15 years, and I do have a copy of the paper where the bank signed of on it years ago, I should be able to get some sort title. Any recommendations? My friend suggested I might be able to officially buy it (we haven't done any bill of sale waiting to see how best to do it) from him as "parts", but I'm not sure. I figure DOT can help me out.

The vehicle is on another buddy of mine's ranch where I practically live- near Uvalde in a small town called Sabinal. We've got 13,000 acres to wheel and hunt on. If there are any members who are also bowhunters, please let me know and maybe we can hook up for some fun! My 40 is going to be a hunting/ranch vehicle and not much of a street driver or rock crawler.

I would sure like to meet some other Austin members and also som San Antonio folks, since that's near where my LC is. Please drop me a PM and let me know who you are.

Does the "Classifieds" section of the LSLC website not work? I can't seem to pull it up- I get an error message. I need a bunch of parts including doors and a top and help/advice on doing SOME restorations on my LC to keep it healthy- stuff like stripping and painting. So if anyone in the Austin or San Antonio areas feel like taking a newbie/rookie under their wing, please let me know!

Nice to meet y'all- I'm lookin' forward to meeting you all!

P.S. I own a custom-only tattoo studio in downtown Austin. So, if anyone is interested in a tattoo, come and see me and I'll cut you a club discount. My website is: www.BodyAdorned.com

Howdy Nick, congrats on the Cruiser! Got pics?

If you need parts or help, I'd either post up here or get signed up on the LSLC mailing list. There's one that is Hill Country specific that's fairly active. I believe you can sign up from the website.

Cool work on your website!

Hey Nick,

We emailed back and forth a few times about some wheels I had on craigslist. I actually lived in Concan for a year and went to 4th grade in Sabinal. :D I don't bow hunt but that 13k acres sure sounds fun.

Hmm...13k acres in Sabinal/Concan area? That is one of my favorite areas in Texas. Does the Rio Frio run through your property? How about we setup an LSLC-HC wheeling/camping weekend?

Oh yeah..welcome!

just moved from Hondo myself used to work in Uvalde.... congrate on the cruiser hope to see you at a meeting
