before everyone starts going nuts...i did a search and saw only threads concerning tire sizes in relation to how much lift a vehicle has. i recently did an OME lift and am running 32x11.50x15s. id like to go with atleast 33x12.50x15s. has anyone done this with stock rims? keep in mind its a daily driver.

There are a variety of opinions on this topic.
Everybody agrees that a 33X9.50 is safe. Some don't like how it works when aired down, but you didn't ask that. Some like the looks, some don't.

Most agree that a 33X10.50 is safe. Maybe even everybody. A few complaints that this size doesn't track as well on the stock rim as on a wider rim. But it's safe.

Some have installed 33X12.50's on the stock rim, and love it, swear by it, have no concerns about safety. Some have said they've tried to get this size installed and the tire shop won't do it. However, everybody agrees that 15X8 is a better wheel for this size tire.

My two cents - tire mfgrs know more than we do. They also are conservative in their recommendations. So, pay attention to their recommendations, but if you do stray from them, don't stray too far.

I think lovetoski said it well...

Mine is a DD with a total of 4ins of lift.. running 33x12.5s on stockers. I feel more then safe on them... they do wonder just a little on the road but, nothing a little OME steering stabilizer wont fix (I am running the stock one)

Another "pro" is that some folks say the 12.5 on the stock rim is like the poor mans beadlock when aired down.

I wanted to add a related question. I am going either the 15x8 or 15x10 route for the same size tires. Can anyone chime in on the pros and cons of either? I do think even if the stockers will fit the 33x12.5, I don't feel safe with them and my family in the 60.

Do NOT go with 15x10. They Will not hold a bead well when aired down and I think everyone on here will agree with me.

If you want the wider b/c of the width then get a less Back Spaced rim. (Like custom 2" BS rims)

I am running 15x8.5 with the 33x12.5's looks nice I think. BS is 3.5

Word.

Woody's formula is tire width X .66. For a 12.50 tire, this is an 8" wheel.

I 've run 33 x 12.50 on 8" rims for about 15 yrs now and never had an issue either on the road or aired down off road. I 've seen guys running 12.50's on 10 " rims and they always seem to be the ones with leaks around the bead on the trail.

I run a 33" X 12.5 General Grabbers for maybe 1 year in my stock 7.5 wheels .. and I'm sure aren't the best setup .. function yes ... but aren't the best. I thought 8.5" is perfect ..
