My 2014 LX 570 seat heating works fine but for cooling, I can't tell if it's working or not. I do hear a the fan behind my seat but the seat does not seem to be cooling at all. Any troubleshooting tips is appreciated.

If you have the Levinson stereo it’s a good time to make sure amp’s fans are also clear. It’s under the driver seat.
I do have the mark and levinson speakers. Thank you! I'll certainly check that too....do I simply move the seat forward to expose the filters/fan?

Easiest is to unbolt the seats and just tilt them back. Keep a shop vac handy, you might have a bunch of crumbs and stuff under there.

For the record the seats don’t cool, they just ventilate whatever air is in the truck.

That probably explains why I didn't feel any coolness from the seat. I was expecting something similar to heating but instead cold.

The "ventilated" seats in these trucks suck. I've had many of them, they suck hard in comparison to other makes.

When it says cooling and heating seat, I thought it's going to work exactly like when I use the heating in the winter but cool instead. But in this case it seems like cooling is basically not cooling at all...it's simply circulating air to the seat only. So, if the cabin is hot, you're going to have hot air in the seat.

The idea is that if its hot enough that you need the seat fans on, you would most likely already have the cabin air conditioned.

I've heard that if you change the air vent setting to make sure you're pushing cold air down by your feet in the front and rear it may help to direct some colder air into the fan inlet. I think some people even make some 3D printed duct pieces to help bring more air to the seat ventilation fan,,, but i haven't found such a duct for the Cruiser or the LX.

That works. I was wondering why my cooled seats only work for a bit and then my seat gets hot. I thought they just where failing or something.

I went online and found some good feedback on how to test them without putting all the seats apart.

Cut a large square section of off a plastic grocery bag put some painter's tape on the edges and put it on the bottom cushion of your seat and run the ventilated seats. it should slightly inflate. That means they are working. Same goes for the back rest.

Having figured out that my system was working I checked the filters and they seamed very clean... for a 24,000 mile cruiser they were super clean.

While inspecting the filters I noticed that my driver position is super low to the carpet and there is really no smooth surface for the air to flow... its all carpet.

On top of that my Cruiser is armored so under the carpet there is a thick layer of Kevlar, so I raised my seating position a bit and flipped one of the plastic mats on the rear passenger so they would not allow air to flow the rear passenger footwell.

I ran the AC in the bottom flow configuration for a while and it made a big difference.

So that's the solution to that other than running a ac duct to the ventilated seat fans.

This is great that I sort of figured it out specially since al summer we have been in triple digits for most of July and August.

Couldn't find the filters when I had looked on Amazon, just Toyota.
There is some reference to peltier cooling, but no peltier units so cabin air only directed by the fan through the seat.

First picture is of mounting on bottom of seat.
Second is of the filter, faulty passenger side board, and mounting box. (note: I had previously removed the control board box prior to taking the picture)
You can clearly see how the air is directed to the seat base and back.

As stated, routing cool air down towards the bottom of the seat will make it available to the bottom of....you 😉

Over the weekend I played a bit with my seats and found that because of the floor armor in my Cruiser the air was not flowing well under the seat. The fast solution to that was to rise my seat position.
Running Cool air in the floor flow position also improved but what made a huge difference

was I installed a USB powered fan blowing air from the vent into the bottom of the seat.
The temperature difference was substantially notable.

Great idea.
Any more pictures of the layout? Is that right under the front of your seat? Where did you pull the positive from for your fan?

I have considered using a peltier unit for cooling, and might set one up in the air channel before the filter. Only issues with peltiers is that they have a hot side you have to manage, and there is sometimes condensation based on atmospheric humidity.

For those of you who have gotten eyes and fingers on the bottoms of the seats, does it seem like there’s potential to replace the fans with something more intense? Do the filters seem necessary?

Do the filters seem necessary?
Definitely.

The little vent holes in the seats would easily get clogged from the inside by stuff the fans pick up.

True.
You could run a 5v pc fan on the floor under the seat towards the front, like jrcnring did, and use a dryer hose to route up to the filter under the seat for positive pressure.
You would have to leave a little extra hose for seat movement.

You know what, when I get time I might give it a try to see if it has any positive effect.

I’m thinking less adding fans, more replacing the original fan. Other vehicles have aftermarket “upgrade kits” that are really just a more powerful fan with the right wiring harness. Doesn’t seem like it should be difficult unless I’m missing something.
