How to transfer title from...

...someone who is deceased.

I was given a motorcycle about six years ago from a friend, who's grandfather owned it. The grandfather passed away about ten years ago. His name is on the title. So now that I have it restored I want to ride it, possibly sell it. Either way I need to get the title in my name.

Do I ask the grandmother to sign? I think my friends father is in control of the estate, get him to sign? Abandoned vehicle? I did not find much on the NCDMV website and I would like to know what I'm in for before I stand in line at the DMV.

Anyone have experience on this one?

I would think all you need is a copy of his death certificate and then have whom ever is in charge of the estate sign the title. call the dmv they can tell you for sure.

You could probably do an abandoned vehicle also.

I guess I will call the DMV and see what they have to say.
