Hey all I'm about to install twin air lockers on my standard HZJ80 obviously when this standard model came out it didn't come with lockers but the dash still has a "locker on" light on my dash I think would be cool to have illuminate. Does anyone know how I can tap into this dash light so it comes on when I switch them on. I took out the cluster but im not sure how the board works. Any help would be great 👍.

Yes, it can be done. Slee did it to the 80 I have now.

I am pretty certain that I've seen instructions posted on how to do this.

I hate to say this, but have you tried searching the forum? Tip: using google with the site: keyword sometimes gets better search results.

The board doesn't do anything; it's just an extension cord for everything plugged into it. You'll need to connect the locker actuator to the dash harness. There's a connector housing in there.

FWIW, I don't have any HZJ EWDs, but you might try one of the FZJ EWDs for the same year as yours (BTW, what is that?) and compare that to your harness.

1993. 1hz diesel the harness on FZJ is alot different I don't even have a tacho or ECU 😂. Shes very basic. I'll have a little look to see what I can find was hoping to just splice a wire and hook in or I can run a positive straight off a bulb worst case.

Yeah I've tried been searching a while. Thought I'd just ask on here for a quick answer.

There should still be the wiring in the floor and dash harnesses for the locker indicator. Look for it. Splicing into the harness(es) would be my absolute very last resort; that never ends well unless you do it the same way Toyota did.

Here is one search result:

If is shown in rusty marlin's diagram, but it may be worth noting that the factory dash lights are ground switched.

That really doesn't help as he already had all the factory wiring for diff locks and a ecu. I have nothing like that on mine. Cheers tho.

FWIW, all switches are ground switched (that is, they need a ground to close).

And, @Rusty Marlin gave you exactly what you need. You need to provide the parts to supply the indicator signal, which isn't a component of your air locker setup. That's all that's missing.

12v 10amps provided by OEM Locker Confirmation Cricut

What is a oem magic dial 🤔
The factory locker switch. You'll need to order one. The wiring is in the dash already. You plug the switch into the OEM harness and then use the other parts of the OEM harness to run the solenoids that trigger the air lockers. the power that runs the ARB solenoids is used to trigger the solenoids that allow the dash lights to turn on.

Hes given me a whole wiring diagram wheres he's got what looks like a factory locker switch which I don't have. Be bloody easy if I had a factory switch I could just chase the wires but i don't have wires for the factory locker light to illuminate because i dont have factory lockers. All im after is basically do I need to run 12v and ground to the dash to make it light up or is there factory wiring I can tap into that's all as I can't see anything on my model.

Ok ill sort it out in the morning. Cheers mate.

He didn't and I didn't (don't) have the factory Locker ECU, on an unlocked rig the ECU is not installed. However all the wiring and the plugs are there. So you use the factory dial plugged into the factory harness to trigger the ARB locker Solenoids and by extension the lights in the dash. You are "creating" the ECU. Now its not quite that simple because the factory locker ECU has a confirmation circuit that tells the ECU when the lockers have fully shuttled and then fire the lights on the dash. In our case the lights are just an indicator that the switch has been thrown.

Switch is on the ground side of lamp.
