Hey guys, I got tired of sanding the 164 holes so i decided to take alittle break from it and make a trim piece for the center console. This is by far the easiest, cheapest way you could replace it. But it looks great! Actually turned out 100x better then i though it would.
The reason i did it was when i bought it was already removed and missing. So anyways its been bugging me lately so i finally decided to do something about it.
And i dont know if this is a desired mod or anything but i thought i might as well share.
So this is how it looks from factory. (Not mine)
This is how mine looked when i bought it.
And this is what it looks like now.
Tools:
Black foam core, super 77 general adhesive, razor blade, old tee or desired vinyl, and a ruler.
Process:
1. Remove old trim. ( Mine came without it)
2. Measure demension. Heres a pic of mine.
3. Cut out shape in foam core. You have to cut two shape. One to hold the "2nd, pwr" button.
4. Glue the two together. Mark where the second one goes by placing it in place and tracing outline.
5. Cute out your tee enough to cover area. I used a old black tee i had.
6. Cover the whole thing in super 77 and stretch tee over.
7. Cut out holes and excess material.
8. Turn over and stray super 77 and fold the tee over to stick to the back.
9. Unplug button and place in hole. I used superglue (not super 77) to glue the button in place. Just a tad of glue will hold it. Just incase you ever need to remove it again.
10. Spray back of whole thing with super 77.
11. I had to take the screws out of the bottom of the console to hook up the button again. Once so hook up button.
12. Place in trim piece and let dry.
Rememeber super 77 is not a super glue it holds very well but can come off with soap and water if you ever decide you change your mind.
Heres what it looks like with my cup holder.
Wells thats it. I had all the material already so it only cost me a hour of so of my time. But like i said i dont know if this is something people desire, to get rid of the trim, but this is a easy and good looking way to do it. And for me it looks a whole lot better then what i started with.
