How to fit smaller bore wheel (Vector 5) spare tire chain carrier?

Got around to swapping a matching 5th Icon Vector 5 onto LX570 w 285/75 R17 KO2. Issue is the chain carrier in spare tire location is just a hair too large to fit thru small bore on Vector 5. Any elegant fixes others have come up with, ideally reversible? Is it a pita to thread the chain back into the crank housing if I put in a screw close (locking) caribener on frame mounted side of the crank? Would detach chain from caribener, let run out free to spare tire side of crank. Any ideas appreciated

Thanks, the RW search did the trick. The last post below seems to be best solution. Locking carabiner (quick link) and grind off an inch or so of the tube.

Compromised Chain Strength

I was shortening the tube on the spare tire mount so it would fit through the Rock Warrior wheel. In the process of cutting it I went through part of the chain link. Probably cut about half way into it. How much will this compromise the strength of the chain? I don't want the spare tire to...
