How to cross Reference Part Numbers between vehicles?

How do you guys get Part Numbers easily and then cross reference to other vehicles? What tools do you use?

For Instance:

I need a Door Courtesy light housing for my 2002 LC and the License plate light housing.

I'm guessing the Dorr Lights are common to other vehicles, if I knew which it would help to find them in a Junk yard or on the Fleabay.

Toyodiy.com still has a cross reference option IIRC. You probably will not be able to access the parts diagrams, but the rest of the functionality should be there.
