My Alldata quotes a complete engine swap with no transfer of parts at 9.5 hours...that's one out and one in.
Add to that fluids and shop supplies, but subtract for and engine that was already pulled, and I would think that 1000$ would be fair to slap and engine in, and 1500 would probably be about right to put one in and really spend some extra time cleaning things up and straightening as you go.
How did you manage to drop your truck off at a shop for an engine swap without a written and signed quote??

Killerpea - Just sent you a PM - Can you email me or fax me a copy of the Alldata quote for the engine swap and the 3speed tranny rebuild? I'm not familiar with that program but sounds like that would be a HUGE help in making my case - THank you!

I own and run a Landcruiser shop.

I am currently doing an engine swap.

A rebuilt longblock does NOT include accessories, so time would need to be added to clean and regasket manifolds, water pump and thermostat, swap over clutch, yada yada.

I quoted full R&R conservatively at 20 hours, including pulling and reinstalling the seats and the tranny hump. If I take longer [and I already have] I do not intend to charge more than the 20 hours I quoted.

So, the only question in my mind is, does his hourly rate cover a hooker as well?:bounce:

Best

Mark A.

65swb45 - what is the possibility of getting a copy of your quote to use in my case - with all the particulars whited out? I've got to meet with this guy and i'm working on getting a few quotes right now that support your numbers on hours / cost.

I'll send you a PM - Thank you!
