How much do CDN 70s go for these days?

I found a CDN BJ70 for sale that is pretty rusty and has high miles. The owner believes the frame was repaired. I have an 82 BJ42 that is in pretty good shape, but I'm more or less looking for a vehicle to drive in winter and save the 42. Are these vehicles still worth anything or is it not worth the hassle?

They seem to go for around $4000-$7500 in rusty sad shape. And $10000-$15000 in clean shape. My personal opinion is that they are the next collector cruiser similar to the late BJ42s. Canadian LHD BJ70's are rare, desirable and produced in low numbers. Why don't you find an old 4runner or tacoma as a winter vehicle? Cheaper, less rusty, more comfortable, and disposable (but still a Toyota).

so a 30 year old truck, rusty, anemic 3B, no a/c, 3.70's and treated like a turd.
IF you gave $2,500 that might be too much. Please do not support and idiots market of $15,000.
collector item, hell no.

As a Canadian you have access to 2001/2002 European gas and 1HZ powered 70 series that are not in bad shape with a/c and modern suspension. Save you loonies for something worthy.

Run away.

Yeah it may be too far gone for me. I got a few more photos and the roof looks pretty bad. Probably repairable but not where I'd be comfortable at. The price is only $1000 so it's reasonable for the drivetrain, again just not something I'm interested in getting into at this point.

Honestly RHD isn't bad, import a clean rust free 70 from Japan and call it a day. Save yourself the headache and save your wallet from being raped and pillaged. It will be cheaper and easier in the long run.

Yeah I looked at that option for a while now but I think some of the Canadian importers are no longer in business.

Honestly it's not hard to do it yourself and hire an agent. Cut the middle man out.

Mark at Brave auto if you can get ahold of him (very busy)
Derek at Pacific Coast JDM

Courtney Agency can be used for an agent in Vancouver.

Or you could get ahold of John @raddcruisers he imports units and sells them from time to time.

I am of the same opinion; I'm just stating what I've seen on the market. In the last year or so it seems to be going crazy. A lot of people pay a lot for the LHD domestic diesel cruisers. To be honest, your description is how I also feel about the BJ42's, yet people still pay astronomical amounts for them. Same story as the BJ70 IMHO (although 70's are still way more affordable). Just as rare in LHD sold in North America though.

Yeah I am pretty cheap when it comes to old vehicles. I paid $3000 for my 42 and $1200 for my 83 pickup. This one seemed like a good deal and still probably is at $1000 but I like to drive things with minimal work and money. I will probably look at importing a newer one with a 1hz. I know where there are a few spares kicking around...
