We know July is going to be McGrew, so why don't we set up a run in April and October?

The only reason I planned it in July is because, one of the high mountain lakes I want to fish and wheel into I want the road to be open.

Josh

It's cool we can have a TLCA in July and a JSC run also in July. No worries Josh

Jesse, The dates are July 7th thru the 11th. We will be camping in an area where there are various lakes to fish along with some small stream fishing. If there is any big intrest we can even hike into some lakes, or the falls. I'm up for anything. One lake I have in mind will require some wheeling into, not much, but fun and beautiful.

Josh

PS I'm glad I did'nt drag you down for the awesome Brooke fishing, it was a bust and not worth it this year.

in the mean time let’s think about runs we do already and start thinking about dates. Having several pre planned runs thru ought the year is a good idea. The impromptu runs are great also but starting to set some dates for runs we know we do is good as well, particularly for those that have to plan ahead and/or are long distance members.

So getting back to the official topic of this thread...

Why not just make what we're doing unofficially now official? Josh has already volunteered to host a fishing/camping run, and Jared has volunteered to host a mining claim run. Why not just have a club member "host" an official JSC run, they pick the dates, local, etc, and handle all the planning it out? Make it an official JSC run (though not a TLCA sponsored run) and see where it takes us.

That completely removes any burden of planning it out, picking dates, or any other complex decisions off the club at large and puts it onto the person who wants to host it, while letting people plan out their year ahead of time so they can actually go to these events. It also gets club members more involved, and gives people opportunities to make events that they would normally not be able to.

The calender is looking awfully sparse for 2010 so far.

The only input I have about that is the calendar is for dates of events only! Please PM one of the mods and have them update the dates that you would like added. If we start just posting up then it will become quickly cluttered and no longer serve it's purpose.

Both very good points.
But I'm confused Gabe . . . What was the original topic *burp*. . . maybe too much turkey

Garett or I can add dates to the calendar. I like the hosted by "name". Just let one of us know the "official" date and we can add to the JSC list of "calendar"

With that in mind we may want to create a couple new threads for the various years gone by for archiving purposes. (does that make any sense?) so the Sticky calendar is for the sinlge year. yes/no/maybe.

There's already a thread for the fishing trip. Think it can get added?

Maybe list the years in reverse chronological order, so next year is always at the top? That way we can start planning stuff out ahead of time easily. (Inside the year itself would stay in chronological order, of course.)

Or could do a single archive thread and as events fall off, move them from one to the other. Cleaner, but more work.

I like that thought with the OP making the title apropriate Fishing/Wheeling/Camping trip July 7th-11th would probably work great.

Silent Bob here...

If a run is made an "official" JSC run what level of support should the club provide?

What, if any, liability are we taking on by making it "official?"

Would it make any sense to offer 4x4 stewardship/skills course to the general public as an official event?

What about a training course for the SAR Team?

Just the thoughts that come to mind for me.

That's a good question.

It would depend on the type of run. If if a for-pay run, then the typical club things should apply (including possibly a raffle, etc). If it's a freebie run, then it would be pretty much just the run itself, not much different than our ad hoc runs that we do now.

No more than any of our ad hoc runs.

I think that's a great idea. I'm not sure how big it'd be, but maybe we can combine the two ideas along with winching, using a hi-lift, etc all into a single event. Pick a spot that's not too far out where we can run people through a semi-difficult course and teach them the basics.

What do you need for me on the run in July, do I need to PM a Mod and give the dates, Location, and specfics. I'm not sure what people are expecting. If you have some expections of what we should do let me know, this my backyard and there is many of things we can do, from tubing, fishing, wheeling, hiking, bike riding, and anything else out doorses. Let me know I'm easy.

Josh

As usual family event my whole family will be there in force.

Sorry, I wasn't picking on you. Yours was the run we've been talking about lately.
I think an overall of what your plans are (we've discussed your trip so wheeling in, camping/fishing, wheeling out), start time/place, end time/date, anything unusual or specific to your trip (unusual conditions/terain or you have to have a special tag to fish this area as an example), or specifics like "on the 10th we're having a trout/bass/? cook off or potluck (again a thought up example).

I by no means thought you were picking on me. I can start a new thread on specfics, but it is so far out that I don't think it warrants it yet. Let me know because I will. :bounce2::bounce2::princess::popcorn::eek::eek::crybaby::bang::bounce::eek::ban:

My kids love this website.

Update, the run to 2ndGen's mining claim will be pushed back to the 16th. :grinpimp:

I just updated the event sticky and flipped the order and added links for the Mining claim and fishing threads.
