How many Mudders have trouble with the buttons on their key? If you're having trouble or had trouble getting the keyless entry system to activate and deactivate due to issues with depressing the lock/unlock button on the key, please let me know. If you've had multiple key failures (specifcally because the button stopped working) please let me know that as well.

Feel free to describe your problem but if you're like most, the problem probably sounds similar: depressing the lock/unlock buttons on the keyless entry system has become difficult (or impossible) as the button appears to be wearing out internally (bad solder, bad contact, etc.)

One key had total failure last year. My other master key works but the lock button does not work. The insides have fallen apart so when this battery dies she's gone. I don't know where to go from this point, other than aftermarket alarm

aaah, the mystery school project. Or is that the next startup? :)

While at the Lexus dealer today, I ran into a electronics expert (owner of a family run business in my area) that's willing look at the Toyota/Lexus keys. Apparently this owner has some limited experience fixing keys with bad buttons but he's been successful.

I got a key that's gone bad so I can donate it (does me no good now anyway) to the electronic expert so he can do the research necessary to find all the weak/fail points with the buttons and how to best make fixes.

If there's enough interest I might be able to set up a group buy. We didn't talk prices but guesing most mudders would rather pay roughly ~$75 fix than ~$150.

No button issues, more of a range issue...have to be closer than 10 ft
