Hi all I am looking at buying a used Lexus LX470 at the moment but since I have only had HDJ landcruisers previous I am not sure how many km to expect out of a well serviced engine and car?? I have found a few points on search but the treads always seem to get off topic and don't get many answers. Also if people could give me a rough guide on when the major services are in the life of this car it would be great and appreciated. Thanks
Just rode in a friend's 100-series with 265k miles on it. He has only done timing belts and water pumps and added an OME kit. No starter, no alternator, no other suspension/steering parts. Almost all highway driving, but very impressive.
I just turned over 100k miles on one of mine. Lots of life left in it !!!
The 100 series was designed as a 25 year vehicle. In theory you can rebuild the engine a few times if need be and reach over a million miles. Depending on the vehicle the 300k mile mark is when people start thinking about a rebuild. Depending on how it was cared for it could go 400k miles or more without an engine rebuild. Most 100 series owners have not yet hit this mark. I'm sure there are some Aussie rigs however that have hit these miles.
If you're Lexus has AHC (automatic height control) that is one concern. These sometimes cause problems and people often switch them out for another (Old Man Emu) suspension when they break.
In general the 100 series is less problematic than the 80 series. The only big maintenance is the 90/180k timing belt and water pump. Some 2000-2001 vehicles have transmission issues but I don't have any concrete info on this issue.
