How long do the shocks/struts last? (1 Viewer)

I am going to pick up my 100 this sat., and was wondering about the shocks/struts. ???
I am not sure what it uses and would like to know how many miles people have gotten out of theirs.
Also what would be a good replacement?

The UZJ100 uses torsion bars and shocks. Dunno about replacement.

A strut is a shock with a coil plate (base) welded to it, it usually mounts to the lower arm in a McPherson type suspension and the top to the car structure. As they are an important structural part of the suspension, they are a lot sturdier than a regular shock, but their function is basically the same.

Best all round IMHO would be Bilstein but I did not get them because they have less than OEM travel.

What is you intended usage and preference? Its hard to recommend what best since everybody have different preference.

I have KYB GR2 front and OME rear. GR2 because they the only one that have rebound stopper, 15% stiffer rebound and have close to OEM travel. OME rear because they the only one that claim to have proper valving and slightly longer than stock travel. I did not get front OME since I hear a lot of blown front IFS OME shock because they dont have rebound stopper Plus I have bad result on other IFS truck with full OME suspension.

They ride a bit too smooth for me and actually I could use a bit stiffer valving. (this was after letting the shock and new tire to break in for about 1K miles) The twin tube low pressure design response time are a bit slow for IFS application that is why I said bilstein would be the best for handling.

I just replaced my shock yesterday with Lexus LX450 shocks. Reason is, the Toyota LC shocks were way to stiff, so I went ahead and purchased excellent used shocks from one of the member here and had it replaced.
According to the tech, front driverside had no gas left, passenger was out of the spec stiff and rear ones were shot. Of course, this is a original shocks with 120k mi on it.
It rides much better with actual shock absorbing the way it should.
