Check this out. German Shepherd. Seven(!) foot tall shed at the lowest point. The cat normally stays up there and that's why she is always trying to get up there. Imagine the surprise when I walk back up to the house and see this tomfoolery. Yes, I used the word "tomfoolery" in a sentence.
I assume that she took a jump, got her paws up on the roof and did a pull-up. I've seen her get her nose above the roof beside the tree.
I backed the truck up to get her down so she wouldn't hurt herself, but she jumped down to the ground before I could get there. No injuries...all is well. This dog has some personality, for sure.

Someone's givin' you the stinkeye on the left side of that second pic :flipoff2:

Good lookin' dog, btw

She probably scramble climbed up the side...

That is cool, (or not) I guess if you had to deal with her.

I had a friend once, his dog could climb trees! It would run at it and scramble up the trunk to the limbs and claw up there by momentum. The same dog could fetch a rock that you threw from the bottom of a lake/pond. It would dive till it found it. I have no idea how it could smell it underwater.

yeah, i've seen my GS jump up on some crazy stuff. they are so agile! i got "charlie" to hop on my workbench in the garage one day which is about chest high. he was only 8 months or so then.

I bet he was just trying to herd up the cat :)

We lost our black g.s. earlier this year. The best dog I had ever met - he went to my office with me every day for the past three years. His birthday was yesterday and we just spread his ashes yesterday - he would've been 11...

thanks for listening...

give you shephard a big hug for me...there is something special about those bbd (big black dogs)

She was definitely after the cat. :D

We've got a 12 year old black and tan who is having some hip problems now. She was/is an excellent guard dog but has lost most of her hearing now. The new black one isn't going to be as much of a guard dog. She doesn't bark when people drive up to the house, whereas our black and tan wouldn't let them out of the car.

My St. Bernard can't jump anymore but he used to be able to get in a pick up bed or in the back of the Excursion. My Newfoundland can clear a 5' fence for sure. With the right coaxing (prey or threat to the family) I can see him doing more. He is fast and strong. He is still learning to sit for a treat but he will scale a wall if he hears a child crying.

Nice shed - you live in Alabama, huh? Go figure. :flipoff2:

Oh, she definitely climbed something. My brother-in-law has a lab that used to get out of a six foot high kennel (cyclone fence all around). She actually "climbed" out with a running start.

My border collie is a leaper. She just jumps stuff for the fun of it. This creek is about 6 ft wide, and I've seen here jump up on top of a six foot retaining wall.

Who is that in the background? Are they about to hike a football or is it you throwing up a beer moth?

back to the original question....................

my pup 'god rest his soul'

back when I was in my early twenties and first got him he took 2nd in state frisbee championships. i would say he could go, from the bottom of his ass/legs 7/8 feet in the air to catch a disc. he was amazing. i spent 13 years of my life with him and he will always be my best friend ever in the world. havnt' had a dog of my own since and don't know that I ever will again. he was quite special. I had to put him down due to a brain tumor. After that occured I took him back to my folks house where all the rest lie and put him to rest with others, many of whom he called friends in his lifetime.

It is so short yet can be so special.

My wife cried very hard that day when I came home and told her that she was now the very best friend I had in the world. She loved him too, he was quite special.

That's cool. What kind of dog was he? Did you have to train him to catch a frisbee or did he just pick it up?

He was 1/2 part border collie out of a pure mother.

Other half was rough housing mutt.

Had beautiful border collie markings yet short hair.

Teaching him to catch disc took about 2 days.

Of course all that consisted of was playin keep away.................................

When he realized that he could sky into the air and nab that fxxxer IT WAS ON. so to speak
