How good are Falken Land Air All Terrain.

Not much experience with the Landair series of tires on my end, Andy...but the Wild Peak A/T that Falken just came out with looks like a decent AT tire that has been pretty well recieved over here. I've read some good reviews regarding its off road performance, and it supposedly has excellent highway manners too. Might want to check it out.
 
Just keep in mind that your tires are the only thing keeping you from driving off a cliff. And we are talking about a couple square feet thats between your 6000lb truck and the road. I feel that tires/shocks are 200% the most important part of your car. There are minimum federal safety regulations that guide tires but a good name brand manufacture will always exceed these.

Personally (from shop experience)I would stay away from them and the following (note many listed are a namebrand's less expensive make).
Fuzion, Mojave, Falken, Hankook, General, Continental, Nitto, Kumho, Cooper, Yokohama.

Now I don't want anyone whining about how they love their Mojaves. The above list should be taken with a grain of salt, each manufacturer above has some great tires. Just like each manufacturer below has some crap models.

Recommended brands (duplicates are there for a reason):
BFGoodrich, Michelin, Goodyear, Nitto, Cooper, Toyo, Kumho, Pirelli, Yokohama.

I would recommend that you look up reviews about each specific tire model that you are interested in.

I have no opinion.
 
Jonharis, what are we supposed to take away form your comment about Cooper, Yokohama and Kumho? Are they recommended by you or not? How are they different than Michelin (some of which are utter garbage IMHO)? Doesn't the suggestion that you check out the ratings on any tire you are considering seem to be the only way to insure against picking a dud?
 
Jon, I'm a little confused too. Are you saying that you'd stay away from certain tires that those brands make, or the brand altogether? Your duplicate list is making it hard on us simple folk. :flipoff2:

I will try to be more specific for the simpletons among us here. :D:flipoff2:. I am saying exactly that certain tires from some of the brands should be avoided. Exactly why I stated that the purchaser should look up the exact tire that they want (i.e. the thread title). From what we saw in the shop for example, Nitto Terra Graplers were generally well liked and balanced nicely, but Nitto NT 555s were crap. I know I'm comparing a car/vs truck tire but some brands have better consistency across the range (BFG, Michelin).

Back on track...The Falken Landair are relativly obscure as Shots pointed out. I honesly don't know anything about them but generally a cheaper tire usually means louder, less durable and rougher riding. Try them out and give us a long term review. :D

but Nitto NT 555s were crap.

It's funny to read this. 2-days before leaving for San Diego last year I got a sidewall tear in my Dunlop SP8090 on the Rx8. Nobody could get a set of 8090's in time for the trip. No Potenza's, nothing else in one day that fit. So I got the one set they found...the NT555 (despite me being a hater of low-cost rubber).

I must say...they have been a really good buy. Near the grip of the Dunlops (which were amazing), no squealing when pressed, 3x the life, same ride, wearing well, has made me re-think sport summer tires. Maybe they're crap overall though not my set. I might just buy another set though low-end brands are against my religion. LOL!
 
Every brand makes entry level or cheap tires.....those sold by Sears, Walmart and discount mom and pops are not being produced individually but normally by big names that are making available budget tires. They are what they are....cheap alternatives to their high quality and priced items...not meant to last 40k miles..not meant to perform outstanding in all conditions....just meant to get you by with safe tires for short period of time for those on limited budget.

Stick with the big names and for an offroad rig would read the reviews at Nitto Trail Grappler Tire Reviews and Info very comprehensive reviews from large base of submissions for nearly every AT, MT or other specialty offroad tire.

We have mounted and balanced two sets of the Falken LandAir. They are not in my opinion a decent tire. We have also mounted two sets of the WildPeak. For a Falken they were a huge step up. They won't make their way on anything important to me but they were an improvement. They did balance well and rode quiet on the test drive.
 
These look like a pretty mild tread pattern for an A/T. From personal experience, I know the BFG A/T's on my wifes LC will last 60,000 miles (96560.64 km) plus! And for a A/T, they grip like glue on the road and wheeling.

Albeit they do cost a wee bit more for the same size, but you not need another set for 5 or more years.

But, don't take my word for it, try some on for size....
 
Hi..i am looking to maybe fit a set of Falken Land Air All Terrain tyres to my amazon,i do mostly high way driving but do venture off road for some fun...any one used this type of tire as any comments would be great..thanks.
Hello there. just strapped on some Falken AT 'landair' tires to my (wrong make i know...) freelander. They grip well all round but they are quite noisy on the road. depends really, if you can put up with tire roar then they are are good tire for the money. I paid £310 for four on mine - although they baby size 195x80x15 96s. Probably too late now, looking at the date of your post, but a handy little note for anyone looking to purchase in the future... 3 out of 5.
