i am in the process of buying a 3.4L V6 Auto and swaping my 3.0L out. But the 3.4L is coming off of a Auto transmission and i have a 5 speed manual transmission.

And i do not think i would be able to find or afford a whole manual ECU with harness. So i was surfng the net and i heard that it is possible to get the Auto ECU to work with the 5 speed.

So i really need everyones help here. I hope someone knows the answer.

You will need to bypass the neutral safety start switch in the auto trans. harness.

I thought there was a little more involved than a simple bypass, or others would have pointed it out. Your best bet is to contact ORS Off Road Solutions - Extreme Toyota Fabrication as they make kits for similar swaps to address bellhousing, ECU, EVAP, OBD-I to OBD-II, etc. FSM would provide the resistance values the ECU needs if you had to connect resistors, but you'll still have a constant check engine light (problem if you have to pass inspection).

Ask the guys who have done the swaps on yotatech or ttora for the best advice. You'll have to keep us up to speed on the process, good luck.

I haven't done this on a 'Yota but a Ranger, and I used the manual engine ECU (so in your case a 3.4 manual ECU) and hacked into the harness for reverse lights and neutral safety switch. I suck at eletric stuff and it was a breeze.
