How do I Maintain Paint while running trails?

Afternoon everyone,

Recently bought a 80s back in September, and so far I’ve loved it. The reason why I chose my 80 was because of the immaculate paint job the previous owner had done before they sold it. As much as I love my pavement princess, It’s time to take her off road. My major concern is the paint/scratches. Is it possible to go on the trail and still maintain a quality paint job? Obviously, scratches will happen, but are there ways to protect paint? Are scratches just a thing I have to accept? Thanks everyone.

I seem to add a few scratches every trip I take. I apply a coat of Teflon periodically so as to avoid the minor scratches

I'm guessing that you'd have to get a fresh application much more often than the street driven vehicles.

Easy answer is wrap the whole vehicle or just try not to scratch it....
