I'm finally doing the real fix on my Orion case, new gear and thrust washers.
I got the transmission/toybox/orion out on Saturday, a little less than four hours from start to finish. On Sunday I wanted to split the Orion off the Toybox so I could get it up on the bench to work on. Everything went well until I got to the lower nut on the inside of the case. I cannot remember how I got it on there in the first place let alone figure out how to get it off.

Anybody have any suggestions?

Last night the Cruiser gods came to me in a dream and gave me a vision of a crowfoot socket wrench. I'll give tis a try tonight.

Since none of you want to help out a semi senile guy with early onset alzheimer's. :flipoff2:

It *should* be an internally wrenching fastener......allen hex head bolt....10mm3/8" hex wrench.

All that I have built have had that fastener with a ground head to clear the counter-gear....

Did you ever mate one to a Toy Box?

The toy box has studs on the two fastener positions that are accessed internaly.
I finaly got the %&#^ out a quarter of a turn at a time tonight. I have no idea how I ever got that SOB together, at any rate I backed the lower stud out of the Toy Box and will replace it with an internal hex head cap screw.

The next challange is getting the Toy box and transmission apart so I can fix the leak they have, I hate leaky vehicles.

BTW the offer of free  is still good if you want to swing by my place this weekend and help me rebuild my t-case. :grinpimp:

Was trying to find the pictures of the groove I cut in the top of the Orion case with a ball carbide bit to allow the Toybox shift shaft to clear...

I removed the stud....Make sure that you have the allen head fastener that will thread into the Toybox....Also verify that it will not bottom out and bind against a gear in there....seems to me I had to shorten that bolt a little bit on the belt sander...

I was two years ago or better since I messed with it....

AA did the mod to my case, after I saw it I thought I should have done it myself and saved the extra six weeks it took them to do it.
I really should have pulled the stud the first time through, I just can't remember why I didn't. I was probably working at O-dark thirty and didn't want to wait until I could get the correct fastener. That kind of stuff always comes back to bite you in the ass.
