How bad would this screw up the 100?

Previous owner installed 265/70/18 Michelin LTX MS2's. current
spare has never touched the ground but it is a OEM 275/60/18. Taken a road trip and if I have a flat I think this tire size difference would screw up the AWD system? I will be replacing the spare with a new Michelin 265/70/18 in the morning. Tell me how I am doing the right thing spending $232 for a new spare.

Buy a used 265/70 and make that your spare for $50

I'm on my second set of tires for the LC and I always buy 5 brand new identical tires. I've yet to need a spare, even once, but I like to be ready if the time arises.

I would NOT run that setup for thousands of miles but in a pinch it would work fine.

What pfran said: I know from experience that you can run slightly different sized tires in a pinch with no problems. To avoid cooking the differential, I would not drive for extended periods at highway speeds with different sized tires, but the spare will work fine in an emergency.

If it makes you feel better, then spend the extra $232, and you will not have to worry about it.

Thanks guys, will be driving from Las Vegas to kc long distances without a tire shop or gas station, so want to go with all the same size. Butl good t.o know that the 100 ism tough enough to take the abuse

265/70 18 = 32.6"
275/60 18 = 31"

delta radius is ~.75" not nearly enough to harm the differential even if driven for many miles.

HOWEVER it may be enough to screw up the ABS system.

If you can find any type of 265/70 18 even if the tread/mfg is different it would be a good idea to replace the oddball spare.

Picked up a new 265/70/18 LTX M/S today. The original 275/60/18 tire was never used but shows signs of dry rot it would not of been safe to use. Just shows if a tire is 7 years old and lives in the hot states of NV or ARZ then they should be replaced.

Just be sure to add the new tire to your rotation as the difference between a brand new and almost bald tire of the same size can over 0.5"

Can't have 4 chromed. Wheels and the spare wheel is normal finish. Also if I keep these rotated and balanced they will need to be changed for age reasons versus miles. Also the cost over the time of ownership of doing a 5 tire rotation versus the Norma 4 you can pay for the 5th tire (that is if you are not doing it yourself)

I'm in a similar situation. Currently have 275/65/R17 and thinking of moving to 275/70/R17, but not wanting to buy a 5th new tire. I believe this would be an increase in tyre diameter of 1.6".
Regarding the ABS issue, how can one tell if this would be a problem or not (without buying new tires and trying it, obviously)? Is this a problem that originates from the Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) system? Is there any way to tell if my 2004 LC100 v8 (Jap spec) actually uses this system or not? Thanks.

I do 5 tire rotation every 4k miles...and have about 28-30,000 miles on a set of Nitto Trail Grapplers.....this ensures maximum lifespan of tires....no issues with one being new and others being 3/4 of inch smaller diameter....or deciding to change sizes and brands and being stuck with a brand new all season tire I cant sell because nobody wants it or it is dry rotted from age.
I bought a 5th alloy wheel for my vehicle off EBAY and never looked back.
