Hi guys,
I was wondering if there is an LSLC chpater in Houston, and if so, if there was any way someone down there might be willign to help me out on a project I've got going on.

Long story short, I've got a container with two BJ45 Troopys in it that just hit port in Houston. I was planning on having them move via rail to Denver & picking up the trucks here. But I recently learned that the inland fees for the rail from there to here are just shy of 3 grand, and money is extremely tight right now (laid off a while back, a different long story), so I'm thinking of having the container terminated in Houston & using airline points to fly down & drive them back.

The thing is that doing this would save a lot of money, but open up a whole new set of problems, so to speak. I would need to find a place that I can get the trucks devanned from the container, then I need to get them started again (shipped with no oil, no fuel & the battieries disconeccted). Once that is done, I basically still need to find a safe place to leave the one truck while I drive the first one home & then fly back down for it, etc...

My wife's corp. HQ is in Dallas, so she's knows some people there that might be willing to help if it came to it, but we don't really know anyone in Houston, so I'm sort of just trying to find any possible options that could make this work, and I figured there might be a few Cruiser heads in Houston that don't mind pitching in to help a stranger, if it is cruiser related.

So, do any of you guys possibly have any ideas that could make this work? Even if you can't personally help, maybe you know a guy that could/would? Or even just a guy with a storage yard at work or something like that?
Many thanks for any & all insights or advice!
Best,
Abe

Hey Abe. I am in Houston and can help if I am in town. I do travel a lot, but depending on timing, might could do something. I also have a place I can park a truck for a bit if need be. We also do have a few of us here that might also be able to pitch in.

Send me a PM and we can talk.

what date are you looking at? I might be able to help with either the storage of helping to get them running

Try Texas crating, they always unload my Cruisers out of the containers and I pick em up over several days.Your customs broker probably has the ground transport contacts to get the container out of the port.It usualy cost me around 350$ to transport the container and another 250$ to unload and store it.

Hey All,
Sorry for to drop off the face of the earth after asking for help! My hard drive crashed & things got a bit too hectic for me to get it fixed before my trips & the holidays. Anyway, my wife was able to work a deal with a forwarder they use a lot down just outside of the airport there, and they let me pull the Troopys out of the container on their dock & then leave one behind inside their cross dock space while I drove the first one back. Everything went really well & both trucks made the drive flawlessly! The only issue I had is that the heater was disconnected on the second one, and I drove through a nasty snowstorm & 12 degree weather (got stuck in Kansas due to I-70 being closed for a day), so part of that trip was a bit cold.... :)
Thanks a bunch to everyone with offers of help & advice. I can't tell you how much I appreciate the Cruiser community!
Best,
Abe
