Attention Houston area Mudders.....project for local pick up.
I know......"project" opens up all sorts of possible interpretations
Got a 1982 white FJ60 many years ago....bought from brother in law who got it at auction in California...was sitting in the back of an auto yard.
I had it shipped here to North Houston: Tomball area....came with almost no papers. I was going to do the bonded title process...but have never gotten around to it.
Got it running a few years ago after dropping the tank. Drove it around the block. Then sent the carb off to get desmogged. Fast forward 3 yrs....found time to get the carb back on and brakes refreshed drove it around the block again. Fast forward another year.....I've come to accept I don't have the extra time and money. I have a lifted '97 80 series project gathering dust in the garage also, and 2 motorcycles (which is my main hobby). My wife has a daily driver 2005 GX470 that has become a project too (just replaced defunct airbag suspension with OME springs/shocks).
Too many projects/hobbies. Planning a tiny/teardrop camper as well.....so I need to make room in the garage for the motorcycles and camper. Time to thin the hobbies. Two teens about to go to college too.
Has good tires. Runs, but now not from the tank (again). It will run only from a gas can - so tank needs dropping again - I'm guessing the pick up lines as I've blown out the fuel lines to no avail.
Has some rust on the rear fender well usual spots and a spot on the back above the upper back door/tailgate.....the usual spots for a LC of this age.
Tore out the interior carpet...was going to order the set from Spectres....but never did.
Not lifted....appears original but except upon investigation I determined that it has an older engine...so it was frankenstiened along the way. Has a fab'd power steering bracket....and actually does have an A/C attached. I have all the removed smog equipment in case you need it.
I really just want it to go to someone who can use it....whether for a project or to part out....just doesn't do other Mudders any good to continue to sit in my garage. I don't have the time or patience to tear it apart and part it out. Would really rather just have someone come take the package deal. I can likely get it running and driven up on your trailer. I can email you the videos if you are interested.
It's a project, and I'm a mudder, so I'm reasonable on the offers....would like to recover my shipping, tires, and other parts I invested in along the way.
If I can't easily get the '97 up and running good this summer....it will go up for grabs too.
