Just wanted to pat myself on the back for finally making a GOOD decision for my Landcrusher! i finally ponied up for
a performance carb rebuild with Jim Chenoweth (fj40jim@aol.com).

In order to keep my down time to a minimum, this is my DD, Jim is rebuilding a carb he has in his shop, then I will mail him mine as a core, so it is an exchange rebuild.

Jim has been great to work with:D, and paypal sucks.

Looking forward to making my old 'Savage Henry' run well again. My current carb was poorly rebuilt. I brought it in to the shop where the previous owner had it rebuilt and they said they wouldn't touch it, as they never had any luck with these carbs, and no longer rebuild them. how's that for taking pride in your work.:flipoff2:

:bounce:Thanks Jim for being so great!:bounce2:

He sounded good, didn't get too personal, but he seems busy with work, a few weeks out or so, seems like a top notch guy!

was surprised to see how friendly and normal sounding he was on the phone. all the guys i work with around here are monsters with meat hooks for hands, 6'5" 350, brickhouse madmen with gravelly bullhorn voices; like my old tire guy Don Fleury who could probably dismount a truck tire barehanded while drinking whisky from his ol' mug.:grinpimp: (r.i.p. fleury's ballard tire, last good tire shop in seattle, hope Don is doing well:beer:)
:cool:Good, how is the fella, you speak with him on the phone?

:DHe is a real small soft tone fella. Actually the fella can insult you and you may not ever pick up on it lol.

He is dam good at what he does:cool: a walking talking cruiser database

pretty sure he has only insulted me online when he saw pics of my desmog. i am ususally pretty receptive to that sort of thing...;)

you got the soft spoken part right, I have heard priest with more aggressive tones. very comforting to work with.

Here's to Jim C. not returning an e-mail and three phone calls!! He ROCKS!! Great way to do business, dude, hope it's working out for you. Cheers.

i had jim do my carb 3 or so years ago still works great. also use one of his pulleys can't go wrong. maybe some day i'll send him my dizzy.

if you want jim to return a message send 3bills via paypal to fj40jim@aol.com i'm sure he'll see that.

also read his sig line "Cruiser madness takes a toll. Please have exact change."

Well this is not the first time i have seen "Jim has not got back with me yet".

But let me clarify for folks if I may(not that I am in touch with him that often).

Folks like Jim are indeed highly needed and very busy and in very much short supply, however is hard to reach at times. I have been in his shop and phone calls one right after the other and the same for mud pm's.

He does more than just carbs, he also restores cruisers also. Not only that he is a one man operation .

Be patient he will get back with you. Best way is email:Dand paypal.

It took awhile for me to get in touch with him. When I did, he took my call while he was "off the clock" under his rig getting ready for an upcoming run yet he still spent some twenty minutes with me...it got to the point where I felt bad about burning up his time and tried to end the call a few times but he was generous enough to keep me on the line.

I didn't search but if you want him to rebuild your carb, there are plenty of testimonials about his work and probably instructions for boxing and mailing it to him with payment. Also search his posts, there always is a lot of good info there.

What does Jim charge, for a carb rebuild, btw ?

I just bought one from ebay that someone bought new from Toyota a year ago, ran for six months, then went diesel or EFI or something. Anyway, will Jim's rebuild make a difference on a good running carb? And what does a "Performance rebuild" entail?

Just asking.

Jim rebuilds the whole thing not just part . If you want the demogg he will be happy to do that also.

Dont hold me 100% to this but i think it is around 300 bucks plus the ride but you would need to ask him to be sure.

He also buts them on his 60 and runs/test them before he ships out:)

For me it was $300 and that included the ride. Money well spent. He has done 3 for me over the years. Highly recommended.

For me, it was $300 and he included RETURN shipping. Have had 3 carbs done, no regrets, highly satisfied.

So what's in a "Performance Rebuild"? If anyone knows... I mean, 3 large is kinda steep, but I ain't sayin' it's not worth it. Just wanna know what kind of tacos Spike is gettin' for his lettuce.
