Are you guys running superchargers and need the vent to dissapate excess heat?

You hit the nail on the head Pete.

Nick- are the vents plastic? I think if they came black plastic they wouldn't even need paint on my white 80. I'd like to do something like this.

Eric, these ones are metal, which I liked considering the temperatures, and they come whatever color the vehicle was they were picked off of. I'm painting them to match my Cruiser. There are plenty of plastic ones on ebay, but I wanted something more substantial (especially considering I have to compromise some of the hood supports, although I will reinforce them). You can also find nice SS ones at marine sites like West Marine.

awesome. I think it would have been more symmetrical to put a vent on both sides. Either way, i like it.

10-4 crete. I got a pair of them to install for ~$33 to the door off ebay. More than aesthetics, it doubles the venting capacity.

One thing to note as Photoman said somewhere at sometime, I don't expect this one thing to be a cure-all to temperature related concerns. Rather by doing a number of things (clutch fan mod to 10,000cst, 3.0 fan blade, 14" auxillary fan, vents, and possibly intake air cooling of some sort) I hope to see a cummulative effect on overall temperature both operating and AC.

I don't currently have temperature issues. However, since completing the RT temp gauge mod, I see where I am often pushing the envelope. With the likelihood of me pulling a camper at some point in my future, it seems prudent to address the cooling issues as PM. It also gives me something to screw with on my Cruiser as there isn't a whole helluva lot to do otherwise.;)

I don't have any issues.......I mean my truck doesn't have any issues right now but with the summer in Texas coming I like to be ready for anything. I'm gonna research the fan mods first, and I would like some sort of stealthier venting system for my hood ...but Citadels is a great idea and very clean.

Do you have a SC? If so, how long have you been running it? Otherwise is your truck modded (laiden with armor, tires, gear, etc.)?

Not to hijack the thread, but I am running a SC. No armor or big stuff.... I 've got some mods...none that add weight. Just alot of rebuilt stuff. But it does get very hot here in Central Texas..and I want to make my truck capable of handling it and keep it running well as long as possible.

they are secured with screws connected to some flat washers... see underside pic... also sealed with some molding adhesive after rustproofing the hole

I love the look of the Z34 vent. I also dont mean to hijack, but I see alot of heat, Supercharger, vent size/bracing questions on this thread. I went through the same thing here in AZ with my Supercharger (So hot the A/C would start blowing hot in traffic) and opted for a pair of smaller vents for bracing clearance. Hopefully the link (and related pics) below may help someone dealing with these issues.
