Hood shocks / strut

I searched but didn't find, so if i missed, please link.

My hood shocks or lifts or whatever they are called are both shot. Before I randomly buy non oem, as the oems are very expensive, does anyone have any luck with a particular non oem?

Tried the discount sites? OEM are only about $55 on the one I use, and you can be guaranteed of the quality.

I tried non-OEM and they were horrible. I replaced them with genuine Toyota parts almost immediately. I highly recommend sticking with factory parts. I got mine from Olathe parts online.

Side note: the Toyota ones come with the ball shaped pin that threads into the body, so you don’t need to buy it separately. I didn’t know that and ordered a set…I could have saved a few bucks if I didn’t.

I have had good luck with Olathe Toyota Parts, McGeorge Toyota Parts and Boch (EB) Toyota Parts online for good discounts.

Part is called a "hood lift support". If that doesn't return results, post your model (LX/LC) and build date and I'll get you the correct numbers to search.
