I have an '08 and I programmed my Homelink system to open the garage door. I did this when I bought the truck and it programmed perfectly on first try. Yesterday I come home and the garage door wont open. Its not the opener unit as a handheld remote will open the door.

I cannot get my Homelink to progress past the second step (after wiping old codes by pressing 1 & 3 together for ~10 seconds). I press the hand held remote and and the desired button simultaneously BUT I do not get an accelerated flash on the overhead indicator. The flash frequency does not change. And, if I hold it long enough the light just goes out.

Does this system run on an independent fuse? Looking for something obvious....

Anyone?

I had the same problem. Turned out to be the LED lights in the garage. If the lights are on during the day the opener does not work. At night it's works fine. Yes........ very strange.

I have two bulbs in the head unit, not LED. I also unscrewed them during the programming so I could see the learn light on the head unit from my truck.

I wonder if it would help to start over from the beginning and re-program the hand-held remote with the "learn" button on the garage door opener first? Then go to the process where you are now, with attempting to get the Homelink to pick up the signal from the hand-held remote.

I used the remote. Give it a try. Good luck brah!

If the light illuminates when the button is pressed - then the homelink has power. It's a self contained unit in the mirror so no other fuses to check.

Sounds like interference at play or the homelink has somehow failed. Which is odd since there aren't any moving parts.

But interference is where I would start. Not just LED bulbs but anything that could make electromagnetic noise. Try thinking of things that may interfere and turn them off or remove them while programming.

i.e. If the dome lights are LED, turn them off. If there is a CB/HAM radio, make sure it's off. Cell phone? leave outside or turn off. Fluorescent bulbs, more specifically the ballasts, in the garage? turn them off.

Even something as trivial as a USB charger could be the culprit. Since it was working- it's going to be something that was recently introduced or has started to fail. Start with the last change first.

If something at the house is suspected- try training the homelink when not at home.

Also the homelink in the LC, as I understand it, isn't compatible with all rolling code methods. i.e. On a genie / overhead door - homelink works with Code Dodger I but not Code Dodger II. If this sounds like a possibility, you can change a button on the remote used for training to use Code Dodger I. This isn't required, as the remotes usually sense they are being used for training after a long button press, and start to broadcast both signals. But I've found it faster/easier just to put the button in the compatible mode to start with.

I don't have any LED bulbs but I'll try to re-program the remote with the head unit in the garage, then try to pair the Homelink.
