pro-jection 011_Small.jpg Does anyone have experience with The Holley Projection kits? I am having trouble getting the injectors to fire. I have replaced the distributor module (not the problem) and made sure that i have power it just seems like the controller is not sending a signal to the injectors for some reason??? I look through a few threads last night and haven't found anyone with a similar issue. I am concerned that I may have a problem with the ECU. I got the kit with my 40 so I don't know how long it has been sitting in a box or if it is repairable?:crybaby:

It starts and runs?
What specifically is it doing?

No it turns over but No fuel from the injectors. Apparently I am not the only early riser in the group!

Lol...YEUP!! Up at 4 everyday!! :(
So does it have an ECU port, or check engine?
Is there power TO the injectors and the fuel pump? Is the FP providing adequate pressure?
Lastly and probably something that should be done FIRST... Check the grounds!!
RustyTLC once told me that the MOST COMMON electrical failure is poor ground contact.
Another thing (what I ran in to) was the power wire TO THE ECU was cutting out when cranking and thus, sending a no start signal. I tried a different wire that was hot when keyed... Fired right out and ran like it had been running for years!!
Did you pull the fuel line, crank it and see if fuel is coming out??

Nice lots to check on I will hopefully get back up there this weekend to see what I can do in the meantime I sent my mechanic/ buddy your suggestions to look at. Thanks Keith!!

No worries!!
I had a similar issue on my initial start up.
I think I mentioned that I had a PARTY for the occasion and it FAILED w/ 20-30 friends and co workers watching!! LOL!!

I can see that leading to a large box of BEER!

Its official I"m a moron! I had the pick up and breather lines confused to the pump that could explain why I wasn't getting fuel at the injectors!!! This is why I am not a mechanic, I would certainly starve to death:whoops:

I need to go spend some time this weekend hopefully. Cage and seats need to go in still linkage needs to be installed, blower motor, center console, stereo, all the exhaust needs to be done so I can run the motor long enough to seat the valves and start tuning! Sad to say it will be a while still!

I know everyone has busy lives but I will throw the invite anyway. If anyone is looking for a reason to turn a wrench i always appreciate help, perspective, and cool ideas! My 40 is a work in progress that I change direction on daily so input is appreciated. It started out as a look cool daily driver but the more I learn the more my interest change towards a serious trail ready 40 that is also fun to road trip in!

I'm down.
I'm out of town this weekend, but ill make time to help when you need beyond that. I live in damonte ranch area, so just down the hill from you (I think you said you live in arrow creek?)
PM'ing you my number.
I can text all day, pretty much, but phone conversation would have to wait till after 4.

Keith

I picked up all the exhaust components today along with windshield wipers:clap: (wipers might be a mute point seeing as a top won't fit over my cage lol). Also ordered a set of Metal Tech tube doors I think we are going to fab some sliders that will help support the front fenders and work around my exhaust running down the frame rail. It really feels like we are getting close. I have to get mine out of the shop in case I buy the one I am going to look at Saturday!

Uh oh!!
There always seems to be a trend when you buy ONE Toyota ... MANY more toyotas purchases soon follow.
I look back at my build pics and get a PTSD tick!!!

The 74 is a driver so I will probably bring it back to Reno instead of taking it to the shop, it sounds like it needs brakes, and I will probably try and come up with a power steering plan and maybe re gear for a little more top end. Or perhaps just flip it to a good home:hmm:. Just don't like seeing cool stuff sit around and waste away!
