When I replaced my fuel pump I accessed it by cutting into the floor with an angle grinder. I cut too deep and put a 1 inch by .12" hole in my gas tank between the sending unit and the fuel pump. What is the best way to patch this leak without draining the tank, pulling it, and welding it back up? I put some gorilla glue in the hole and then duct tape over it as a quick fix. What's the best long term fix without taking it out? Or should I man up and take it out to weld it?

Two part gas tank repair epoxy paste. It's on the rack at the parts store by the other glues and gasket makers.

Thx. That sounds more appealing than dropping the tank.

I to have had good success with the 2 part epoxy on occasions.

I've used the gas tank epoxy before, that stuff works. And for future refference, welding a gas tank is one of the most dangerous things you could ever attempt to do. Playing hopscotch on the interstate would be a better bet for personal safety.

The paste sounds good and be on the lookout for someone parting a truck and get a new tank for long term. If you're lucky, you'll get a spare fuel pump in the mix!

For every 'oops' there's a benefit too. How much space is there between the floor of the 62 and the top of the tank?

I'd prefer not to do the same thing.

You have over a quarter inch. Open your sending unit hatch before cutting at it will give you a good feel. pardon the out of focus picture but it gets the point across.
