HJ61 Alternator

HJ61 1987 12HT. Battery on left (if seated in vehicle) has less than 2v stored, too much loss to even recharge. Formerly the right battery would lose charge but is full now for whatever reason. While driving the voltage meter would nose higher the longer I drove, but one battery or the other would drain within days. I was starting the engine every few days to charge but the drain happened too fast and car is dead in garage now.
Best guess is the alternator or regulator isn't charging correctly. Is there a specific part number or vendor that is best? I can't seem to find a matching alternator for the 12HT as the same as in my truck. For one, the plug on mine is only one prong, whereas every other one on the market has a 3 prong plug. Am I missing something?

Post up some photos of the wiring and whether you are 12 or 24v.

Sure thing. 24volt. Thought all 12hts were 24.

And the external vs internal has me thrown too and is part of the problem. I can't find a number plate for a part number and this 87 model has so many transitional parts it's tough to tell whether parts are pre 86 or post 86.

The larger plug is the alternator plug and only has the one wire in and out. Photo of plug opened is in here too. Good connection, just looks far different to every stocked model online. Also took a shot of the regulator.

Usually the diodes have failed to cause uncontrolled voltage discharge. Disconnect everything.
Pull the alternator and have it tested on a bench.

The Black plug is the alternator plug.
The open one is for the temp sensor on the thermostat.

Ext reg have the 3 sprong black connecter.
Int . have the 3 sprong green.

Ah! Thank you for the photo.

I was sitting there saying "that dudes crazy there's no black connector anywhere!" Yeah except under that hose exactly where it should be.

Seems to be an external reg. Yes it is a Japanese import to NZ.
