Hello all,

Replacing the Diaphragm on the injector pump on a 1982 2H.
Was able to remove the cover, split pin, washer and with a lot of trouble the old diaphragm.
It did no matter what angle I used, the diaphragm fouled on the side of the pump essentially left with one option - bend the front and slide off the rod.

now putting the new one on, it is appearing impossible.
Is there a way to position the shaft so it protrudes out further ?

Reason for replacing, Car running very smoky, engine would not turn off once started (had to pull fuel line to choke) hard starting. Even pushing the rod to the off position the engine continued to run.
The engine sat for 13 years.

Can you post a pic where you are having trouble with the diaphragm in vicinity?

I replaced mine awhile ago, can't remember it being too hard..the split pin was the easiest path from memory.

Your rack is probably gummed up and stuck check my diesel site below in the videos part to see how it should move.. light taps on the end and working it back forth can free it up

I opened the side cover.
There was one washer at the base and another on spring 3 counting right to left has popped out from under the spring.

Can an expert please guide me on what has to happen now ? Please

Pump rebuild time. A good second hand one a second option.

Brisbane, Qld - Thanks for the tips.
I am going to remove the pump, I think I have a spare around somewhere - going to inspect, if it is okay - if all fails, rebuild time.
