Since the turbo on my 79 series , after driving and turning the ute off the heat sits under the bonnet like a oven , if you feel between the bonnet and fender there is a load of turbo heat trying to come out . I'll be getting a bonnet scoop off a 07 hilux but in the mean time I thought I would put a black grill from a hj75 fender which sat next to the batterie with the 2h motor .
As soon as you pull up the bonnet is cool to touch so it's okay when air flow is comming in aka when driving but after a few minutes of sitting still the heat sets is ,
Still don't know whether to put scoop forward or backwards
I went to my local cruiser parts guy and picked up a hj grill and noticed the rear troopy panel vent is the same and has same part number just has a different ducting on inside of fender / panel.
The fender one is on the left ^
Mark the holes
Mark and cut out using a spun out cutting tool the panel beater next door lent me
Painted black on the inner fender and touch up paint around the drill hole and cut out so no bare metal
Rubber seal between fender and grill
Job done
When I got home to day and waited a few for the heat to set in noticed heat coming out , so I'm a happy camper not sure whether to put the other grill on the other side to even it up ? But don't really need to as not heat sits on that side .
This is were they normally sit on the hj 75 except they only seem to come out on the 85-86 ?
