any 6 cyl automatic owners have any feed back for me , i am looking at an 86 hj 60 auto with 350,000 kms on it fairly decent shape , solid frame ,guy is asking $8000 .

are the 6 cyl's ok i have heard they are not as reliable as the 3b's , also i believe they only have 10 more hp and tourqe , but the auto's realy rob power , this would be a daily driver in vancouver ( coquitlam ) , i also want somthing my wife can drive , she cant drive standard .

then i can do the spring over on my bj and go crazy !

if the auto tranny are good .. maintenance and bla bla bla .. is a good option .. not the most fasted cruiser in the world .. but fine for your wife. In my concept 2H engines are slow engines .. and add to this mix auto tranny are more slow .. so again is a fair good option for your wife.

I had one for a while. Yeah, not a rocket sled but fine for a DD. Ok on the highway as well. The 2H is a fine engine. It all comes down to how it has been maintained. My friend had to rebuild his tranny and transfer case on his and it cost him $7k with taxes at a tranny shop. I think he was taken for a ride but you know it's not going to be cheap to do one of those. Also keep in mind that 24V stuff can get pricey. If you do buy it, I have good A440 sitting in my shop.

8k isn't too much IMOP if the truck is clean, I paid 10k for my BJ60 with not enough knowledge. But it was in the most part minimal rust. With 230k KMs.

But since then I have spent the amount to be equal to just buying a JDM 80......

But i have an amazing interior(custom) and many other upgrades....

When I am done I have about 20k total invested....smart I doubt it..

But I like the 60 series. A little more than a 80. 74's are too small. 77 would work for me.

for 8k make sure you have really good compression and the frame is solid. don't do an impulse buy.

leaky knuckles, and seals can be fixed. but buying another engine or rebuilding would kill the deal. Also if the frame is rotten......you have a parts truck., Unless you buy a new frame.

Hey,

Well, I'll be selling our '86 HJ60 (auto tranny) momentarily, but I'll agree with the others here - the engine isn't the most powerful, but it is definitely fine for daily driving. I drove it for two years back and forth from the Lonsdale area in North Vancouver to Lions Bay along the Sea to Sky highway and loved it. Some of the hills you will putter up, but when you hear that engine rumble it's worth it :D

I just bought one a few weeks back with 290000kms in great condition with Bull Bar long range tank for $6500. Slow yes, reliable yes easy to get parts for yes. Cheap to run I am getting 12l per 100kms. As for DD for the wife I don't think you can go wrong, at least there will be no speeding tickets;p
