I would love to have a Detours or Maine but I cant get in touch with them. Show me some options and what you like/hate abt it.

I, too, had interest in the Detour of Maine setup. After 4 attempts of reaching out to him, I took it as a sign I didn't wanna deal with him. Kinda a bummer, he appears to make a setup just that bit better than others.

I tried the Willco setup, but didn't like it enough for the price. Main issue is how far off the rig it sits (and honestly feel the same about the others). If I were going to try another, it'd be the Rig'd.

Willco:

I have the Ridg, no complaints. Picked it because of all the attachment that can be accessorize to it. For the price, if you ever planning on getting a rear bumper I don't think it's worth getting the Ridg tire carrier.

Does it bother you too bad to not have the use of the front and rear parking sensors? That is one of the main reason's (besides how far off the vehicle the tire sits) I haven't done a hitch tire carrier. Right now the JW offroad solution seems to be the best for my needs without dropping major coin on a full bumper set-up.

I was able to get in contact with Detours of Maine through his Facebook page. I seem to be in the minority as far as contacting him. I should have my Tire Carrier sometime in the next few weeks hopefully (12 Week lead time when I ordered it). I'll post Pics once I receive it and install it.

Front sensor still work, rear sensor always beeps when reversing. But since I relocated my camera, I dont really have any use for the rear sensors. My side sensors wrk too. It still notifies me of on coming cars when reversing.

Great Pics! Besides the price any pros/cons/rattles? Any experience using it on rugged trails/offroad? How’s the table working out? Looks very useful.

No rattles at all even when offroading. Since then i added a water and fuel pax too. For me The only con is the price. For the price you might as well get a full metal bumper nevertheless not switching any time soon.

Great info. Thx. Not wanting to go the full bumper route so this should be perfect!

6monkeys tire swing
same issues as the others with oarking sensor. I keep mine atttached to my travel trailer currently and relocate when taking the GX out on a trail.

Have you looked at Westcott Designs? I really like the modular single tire carrier they just came out with. It's offset to the right so it'll allow me to mount a ladder on the left. May look at getting a table and / or gas carrier on the left eventually.

This looks great! Do you happen to have any shots from the side so we can see how far the tire sticks out? Other than sensors, any issues you’ve come across so far?

Great install video! One minor comment for 6 Monkey's regarding the tire and HighLift mounting. The tire looks to be tilled back a wee bit, keeping the angle of the rear door, correct? But it looks like the jack is perfectly vertical. I think it would have looked better if the angled the jack mount inline with the tire. Or is it just the camera angle?

Also looks like you may need to tuck some wires up? :hmm:

6monkeys looks interesting. Price is decent/ around the other hitch mount carriers. Looks like they have added a 3 position locking pin next to the spindle. And, they use a u-bolt to eliminate wobble instead of the plastic? wedge that most other hitch carriers are using. I sent an email to them asking if they could make a left / driver side open version.

Edit: 6monkeys/Dan got back to me and said they can do a left hand/driver side swing version. Select the custom option and write in ‘left hand swing’

Yes the 6monkey has two options a slanted version and a straight version. I have the slanted version.

Also agree that 6monkey should add a swing lock so you can pin it in place when the rear door is opened ect.

here is a side view showing the lean on the tire mount.

ultimately it was the price and quick ship that won me over. But due to parking sensor and back up camera stuff i will keep it on the travel trailer when i daily drive and mount it back when im wheeling. Takes about 15 mins to swap locations as you need to take down the tire and then remove it from the hitch ect.

also using the Trailed spare tire gas tanks in the location of the spare tire,. ill let you know if i blow up

Cool. The latest install video of the 6monkeys tire carrier shows a plate by the spindle that allows you to lock the swing arm in 3 different positions (closed/lock, open ~90 degrees, and open ~180 degrees).

I placed an order for a left hand swing version of the 6monkeys and will follow up when I get it installed. Dan (the owner) told me lead time is 15-20 business days.

My 6Monkeys LH tire swing arrived today. Took about 1 month from ordering to my house. Going to test fit it this weekend. I have no experience with the barricade bedliner Dan uses and limited experience with bedliner, generally. So, the coating on the carrier seems fine and in line with other bediners to me.

Got mine in yesterday as well. I went with the RH swing. Install was pretty straight forward, following their instructional video on YT.

So far everything feels pretty solid. Only small issue I ran into was I think some of the tolerances in the striker plate may have gotten tighter with the powder coating, but not a huge deal.

Also, the wiring on the tag light is too short so you’ll need an extension to get it plugged in.

I noticed the tag light cable was pretty short but am hoping it will reach from the left side since the trailer plug is right there.
